Rockies released C Paul Lo Duca.
Lo Duca was trying to make a comeback, but with Miguel Olivo playing well and Chris Ianetta working hard to regain his position with the Rockies, Lo Duca's road to the majors was a rough one. The 38-year-old hasn't been in the majors since 2008 and is rapidly coming to the end of his career. Still, many teams feel that veteran catchers are an asset within the organization, so he may yet latch on with someone else. Lo Duca is a career .286/.337/.409 hitter.

Rockies reassigned C Paul Lo Duca and LHP Matt Reynolds to minor league camp.
Lo Duca, who turns 38 in April, was 6-for-27 (.222) during Cactus League action. He plans to accept the minor league assignment.

Rockies non-roster invitee Paul Lo Duca would be willing to accept a minor league assignment with Triple-A Colorado Springs.
"I'm OK with that," said Lo Duca. "When you haven't played in a year and a half, basically, you need to get back in the swing of things. To go there and get some at-bats regularly would be great. I know there are a lot of guys there that need to get at-bats, too." Lo Duca, who turns 38 in April, is 4-for-22 (.217) this spring.

According to Troy Renck of the Denver Post, the Mariners have scouted Rockies non-roster invitee Paul Lo Duca this spring.
Lo Duca, who turns 38 in April, is just 4-for-21 (.190) during exhibition action, but he has impressed scouts with his receiving skills and versatility, according to Renck. With Rob Johnson working his way back from offseason surgeries, Lo Duca wouldn't be the worst veteran fallback in Seattle, though it is unlikely. Renck suggests the Tigers as another team looking for a veteran backstop.

Rockies placed SS Troy Tulowitzki on the 15-day disabled list with a right rib fracture.
Tulowitzki had been dealing with rib soreness for a week and aggravated the injury while making a diving stop during Thursday's game. The injury a brutal blow for the Rockies and fantasy owners alike, as the 28-year-old is batting .347/.413/.635 with 16 homers and 51 RBI this season. He's expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

Tyler Chatwood held the Phillies to two runs over five innings Saturday in the Rockies' victory.
It was Chatwood's first start back from a triceps issue and he looked fairly sharp over his 84 pitches (50 of which were strikes). The righty scattered seven hits and three walks, striking out one. He will carry a 2.33 ERA into his next scheduled outing against the Nationals.

We've read nothing further regarding Cabrera, which probably means he isn't close to a rehab assignment. The 25-year-old lefty was placed on the 60-day disabled list in February. He's eligible for activation, but not healthy enough to pitch. Cabrera ranked as Colorado's ninth best prospect by MLB.com this offseason.

Betancourt will face live hitters on Friday and could then be cleared for a minor league rehab assignment. The veteran right-hander will be back in the Rockies' bullpen by the end of this month if everything continues to go smoothly. Rex Brothers is filling in at closer and doing a fine job.
