Rafael Betancourt is a perfect 9-for-9 in save opportunities.
Betancourt took a loss in his last appearance against the Yankees, though that blemish came courtesy of an unearned run. The 38-year old from Cumana, Sucre, Venezuela owns a spectacular 1.26 ERA, but an uninspiring 11/8 K/BB rate over 14 1/3 frames. He's also been aided by a pair of unearned runs. Betancourt is locked in as the Rockies' closer and remains a solid fantasy option, though his ERA shouldn't buy new jeans. It'll expand sooner or later.

Betancourt boasts a 0.00 ERA, 0.60 WHIP and two strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings. He is locked into the Rockies' closer gig right now and remains a solid fantasy option.

The Rockies are expected to limit Rafael Betancourt early in spring training.
The 37-year-old isn't injured and simply wants to take his time getting ready for the regular season. Betancourt will enter 2013 as the Rockies' closer, but is a strong candidate to be traded at some point this summer.

Rafael Betancourt was shaky in the ninth inning against the Padres on Sunday, allowing a run on three hits, but managed to escape with the save.
Taking over with an 11-9 lead, Betancourt got the first two outs before Cameron Maybin singled. After taking second on defensive indifference, he came around to score on a single by Alexi Amarista. Mark Kotsay then followed with a single, putting the winning run on base, but he was able to bear down and get Chris Denorfia to end it. He’s now converted 27 saves in 32 chances on the season, while posting a 2.57 ERA and 44/12 K/BB ratio over 49 innings.

Michael Cuddyer (neck) isn't sure he'll be ready for activation from the disabled list on May 24 when first eligible.
"I was still pretty locked up yesterday after the epidural, but I'm feeling a little better today," Cuddyer said Thursday. The outfielder is still a few days away from resuming baseball activities. A clearer picture of his timetable should be known at that time.

Rockies placed LHP Jeff Francis on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 15, with a left groin strain.
It was reported previously that Francis tweaked his knee during Tuesday's start, but apparently his groin is the issue. Rob Scahill has taken his spot on the roster, but the Rockies have not announced who will take his spot in the rotation. Tyler Chatwood and Drew Pomeranz are the main options.

The move cleared a 40-man roster spot for new infielder Reid Brignac. Cabrera can be activated in late May.
