Blue Jays signed RHP Buddy Carlyle to a minor league contract.
Carlyle spent all of 2012 at Triple-A with the Braves, posting a 3.43 ERA and nice 73/14 K/BB ratio over 76 innings. He'll represent minor league depth.

Braves signed RHP Buddy Carlyle to a minor league contract.
The deal does not come with an invitation to spring training, meaning Carlyle will be in minor league camp one month from now. He posted a 4.70 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in eight relief appearances last year with the Yankees before being released in August. The Braves probably aren't expecting much from him.

Yankees released RHP Buddy Carlyle.
Carlyle was ineffective for the Yankees earlier this season, posting a 4.70 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in eight games. He was solid in 27 games for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, holding a 3.98 ERA and 1.19 WHIP, but evidently the Yanks decided they just didn't have room for him anymore. With the minor league season ending soon, the 33-year-old will probably just take the rest of the year off.
Sat, Aug 20, 2011 09:55:00 AM
Yankees sent RHP Buddy Carlyle outright to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Carlyle successfully cleared waivers after being designated for assignment by the Bombers last week. The 33-year-old right-hander will stick around as organizational depth.

Jose Reyes (ankle) went 2-for-3 with two singles and two runs scored Monday in his first rehab games with High-A Dunedin.
Reyes, who was playing his first game since his severe ankle sprain on April 12, also played five innings at shortstop. Barring any setbacks, the speedy shortstop could rejoin the suddenly red-hot Blue Jays within the next 10 days.

Brett Lawrie no longer has a walked boot on his left foot and has started throwing and riding a stationary bike.
Lawrie still needs to gain strength in his ailing left ankle, and there remains no timetable for his return. Still, it's a sign of at least a bit of progress for the 23-year-old. He hurt the ankle on a slid back on May 27.

Brandon Morrow (forearm) suffered a physical setback Monday in his rehab start at High-A Dunedin.

J.A. Happ (head) threw a bullpen session Tuesday.
Another step in the right direction for the left-handed starter, who suffered a sprained right knee when he collapsed on the mound after being in the head by a line drive last month. He should be ready to return to live major league games in early-to-mid July.
Jun 18
6
Kyle Drabek
D.L.
Kyle Drabek (elbow) is scheduled to pitch two innings of an intrasquad game early next week.
Good news for Drabek, who underwent Tommy John surgery last June. The 25-year-old figures to require a lengthy rehab assignment, but he should make an impact with the big club at some point during the second half of the season.
Jun 14
7
Drew Hutchison
D.L.
Drew Hutchison (elbow) will throw a simulated game Tuesday.
It's the next step in his rehab process from Tommy John surgery. Hutchison figures to throw a few simulated games before going out on a minor league rehab assignment, but he's getting closer. The 22-year-old is unlikely to be an option for the Jays until well into the second half.

Sergio Santos (elbow) threw long-toss Friday.
Santos is currently making his way back from surgery last month to remove bone chips and spurs from his right elbow. He's expected to throw a side session next week, but he won't be an option for Toronto's bullpen until after the All-Star break.

An MRI on Ramon Ortiz's right elbow did not reveal a tear.
It's a surprise, given Ortiz's reaction after suffering the injury Sunday. He'll be re-evaluated after the swelling subsides, but it sounds like his career isn't over just yet.
