Nick Punto homered, doubled and walked Tuesday in the loss to the Diamondbacks.
At least Punto has come to play this year, which isn't something that can be said of every Dodger. And he's getting a lot more playing time than expected. The homer, off Brandon McCarthy, was his first, of course. However, he's batting .368 in 57 at-bats. Punto hasn't hit more than one homer in a season since 2008, when he hit two.

According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Dodgers are likely to trade infielders Nick Punto and Juan Uribe.
Skip Schumaker was acquired via trade from the Cardinals on Wednesday afternoon and is expected to share time at second base next year with Mark Ellis. That doesn't leave much room for Punto, who is also behind Hanley Ramirez, Dee Gordon and Justin Sellers on the depth chart at shortstop. Uribe, meanwhile, has posted a wretched .199/.262/.289 batting line over the past two seasons. The Dodgers might as well just cut him.

Dodgers acquired INF Nick Punto, 1B Adrian Gonzalez, RHP Josh Beckett, OF Carl Crawford and cash considerations from the Red Sox for 1B James Loney, RHP Allan Webster, INF Ivan DeJesus Jr. and two players to be named later.
Punto is somewhat of a misfit in the blockbuster haul for the Dodgers, but he stands to get a decent amount of playing time all over the Los Angeles infield down the stretch. He was hitting .200/.301/.272 with one home run and 10 RBI in 148 plate appearances for Boston. The 34-year-old won a World Series ring last season with the Cardinals.

Nick Punto went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in a win over the Blue Jays on Saturday.
A big game for Punto, who entered Saturday's action batting just .132 (7-for-53) over his first 29 games this year. His ninth-inning solo homer -- a long blast to the second deck in right field -- was just the 15th home run of his career. The 34-year-old will have some fleeting relevancy in AL-only leagues while Dustin Pedroia (thumb) is sidelined, but he's not going to have many better days than this one.

Hanley Ramirez is expected to miss 4-6 weeks after an MRI confirmed the diagnosis of a left hamstring strain.
Ramirez was placed on the disabled list over the weekend after he injured his hamstring during Friday's game. While there was initially some hope that he would be able to return at the minimum, he'll now likely be sidelined until the early part of June. Dee Gordon should get most of the playing time at shortstop for now.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Friday that Jerry Hairston Jr. (knee, groin) had "a little bit of a setback."
Hairston was placed on the disabled list earlier this month with a left groin strain, but he's now dealing with a knee issue. The setback means that he won't be activated from the DL next week when first eligible. The Dodgers are expected to send Hairston on a rehab assignment before he's cleared to return.

Manager Don Mattingly said after Beckett's start Monday that the groin ailment was minor, but the Dodgers will play it safe. He seems likely to be activated when eligible or shortly after. Matthew Magill seems likely to get a start in Beckett's place, and Ted Lilly (rib cage) could be ready next week.

The move clears a spot for Scott Van Slyke on the 40-man roster. Billingsley had season-ending Tommy John surgery last month and will likely miss the early part of 2014.

Ted Lilly allowed four runs over five innings Wednesday in a rehab start at High-A Rancho Cucamonga.
Lilly wasn't exactly sharp, yielding five hits and three walks, but he felt no discomfort in his rib cage and is hoping to return to the Dodgers' rotation next week. The Dodgers were aggressive with Zack Greinke (clavicle) and might as well be aggressive with Lilly.

Fife made a spot start with the Dodgers earlier this season, but has been sidelined since April 22. He'll likely be optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque when he's healthy enough to return.

Shawn Tolleson is scheduled to undergo surgery on his injured lower back on Thursday afternoon.
Tolleson was placed on the disabled list April 15 with a lower back strain and now needs surgery to repair the injury. He is expected to be sidelined for 3-5 months and could feasibly miss the rest of the season.
