Cliff Lee overwhelmed the Marlins Wednesday, going the distance while allowing just three hits, two walks and no runs while striking out five in the 3-0 win.
Lee got into trouble in the second inning with a single, walk and hit by pitch, but he pulled a Houdini act with a 5-2-3 double play followed by a pop-out. Two of the three base knocks he allowed were of the infield variety, and all three were singles. The southpaw will take a nifty 2.48 ERA and 1.02 WHIP into next week's start in Boston.
May 22 - 10:06 PM
Cliff Lee limited the Reds to two runs over seven innings Friday in a no-decision against the Reds.
The only damage was a two-run homer by Jay Bruce in the sixth inning. Lee held the Reds to just six hits and two walks while striking out seven. While the southpaw was denied the win by his bullpen, his ERA is down to 2.83 for the year. He'll try to keep the good times going next week in a tasty matchup against the lowly Marlins.
May 17 - 10:10 PM
Cliff Lee fired seven scoreless innings Saturday in the Phillies' 3-1 defeat of the Diamondbacks.
Lee scattered six hits in the impressive outing and dropped his ERA from 3.26 to 2.86. The left-hander has run into some rough patches in the early part of the 2013 season but will probably have ace-like numbers yet again when all is said and done. He'll get the Reds next.
May 11 - 11:47 PM
Cliff Lee had a nice rebound start Monday, holding the Giants to two runs over eight innings in a 6-2 victory.
Lee gave up just five hits, didn't walk anyone and recorded six strikeouts. The left-hander overmatched everyone in the Giants' lineup other than Hunter Pence, who went 3-for-3 with a double and a homer. After three straight sub-par outings, it's a nice step in the right direction for Lee. He'll bring a 3.26 ERA and 1.07 WHIP into Arizona this weekend.

Phillies placed C Carlos Ruiz on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 20, with a right hamstring strain.
Ruiz was diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain of his hamstring and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks. It's a tough blow for the Phillies, who just got Ruiz back from his suspension less than one month ago. Erik Kratz and Humberto Quintero will fill in behind the plate once again.

Phillies placed 2B Chase Utley on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 21, with a mild oblique strain.
General manager Ruben Amaro described the strain as "very mild," so, all things considered, it's pretty good news for the Phils. Amaro is hopeful that Utley will be ready when his two weeks are up, but it's possible he could be out as long as four weeks. Freddy Galvis will function as the primary second baseman while Utley is out. The team will make a corresponding move prior to Friday's game.

Roy Halladay (shoulder) could rejoin the Phillies' rotation in late August if everything progresses on schedule.
Halladay, who had surgery last week to remove a bone spur in his shoulder and repair his torn rotator cuff, reported to extended spring training Monday to begin his rehab. General manager Ruben Amaro said Doc has pretty good range of motion and is "pretty positive." Obviously late August is so far away that it's just a rough timetable, but, given Halladay's famous work ethic, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him pitching later this season.

It will be the first time he's done so since going on the disabled list. Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro said Lannan "is doing very well. He feels good." The left-hander could rejoin the rotation in a few weeks if all goes well.
