Jeff Baker hit his third home run of the season and his second in as many days on Wednesday, but the Rangers lost to the White Sox.
Baker got his second-straight start in the Texas outfield and delivered his second-straight bomb, a solo shot in the second inning off Chris Sale. The utility player is now batting .360/.448/.760, though he's appeared in only 12 games. It's highly unlikely Baker begins to steal starts from the other Rangers outfielders. He can still be ignored outside of deep AL-only leagues.

Jeff Baker had a single and drew a walk in his return to action Saturday.
Baker hadn't played since Tuesday when he injured his knee after colliding with the wall in foul territory while making a catch. He'll go back to getting some starts against lefties.

Rangers manager Ron Washington expects Jeff Baker (knee) to be available to play Friday.
"He got treatment (Thursday). His mobility is better, but I'm looking for him to be available (Friday)," Washington said. Baker hurt his knee after colliding with the wall in foul territory while making a catch Tuesday. If he's ready, he'll likely start Friday against lefty Scott Diamond.

Baker's knee is still stiff, though, so he'll be held out for a couple days. He could return to action over the weekend.

It's not known which minor league affiliate he'll play with, but it should be enough to ensure he'll be activated on Tuesday. The 36-year-old backstop has been sidelined since May 5 with a strained right oblique.

Rangers placed 2B Ian Kinsler on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 18, with an intercoastal strain.
Kinsler hasn't started the last two games with rib soreness and said he still felt discomfort during batting practice on Sunday. The Rangers aren't overly concerned about the injury, but top prospect Jurickson Profar will be called up to replace Kinsler on the active roster. Kinsler is batting .302/.369/.500 with seven home runs through his first 40 games this season.

Matt Harrison recently had a setback with his back that required an additional surgery on Wednesday.
Harrison underwent an operation on April 23 to repair a herniated disk in his lower back but began feeling additional discomfort this week, necessitating another procedure. According to T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com, the Rangers are "operating under the assumption that Harrison will pitch again this season, but he will be out for at least three months." In other words, we won't see him again until August at the earliest, and it seems like there's a good chance it will be longer than that.

Alexi Ogando (biceps) underwent an MRI which revealed no structural damage.
Ogando was placed on the disabled list on Thursday with biceps tendinitis after he felt some pain during Wednesday's start against the Athletics. It's an encouraging sign that no more serious damage was found, and his stay on the DL should be a short one. Josh Lindblom is expected to hold his place in the rotation while he's sidelined.

Colby Lewis (elbow) is expected to rejoin the Rangers' rotation in the first week of June.
After dealing with a minor bout of triceps tendinitis, Lewis will resume his rehab assignment at Double-A Frisco on Monday. He'll need two additional outings after that before being activated. The right-hander is a nice roster stash in fantasy leagues if you have room.

Feliz's rehab from Tommy John surgery is going fine, although it's not yet been announced when he'll be ready to throw off a mound. We expect him to return to a major league mound late in the summer.

Joakim Soria (elbow) will be shut down for 2-3 weeks with a strained pectoral muscle and is now not expected to return until around July 1.
A tough break for the Rangers, as Soria had been slated to join the Rangers' bullpen as soon as late next month. The good news is that his surgically-repaired elbow is fine. The Rangers will continue to use a host of players to set up for Joe Nathan.
