Twins signed INF Ray Olmedo to a minor league contract.
Olmedo was cut loose by the White Sox in October after batting just .244/.244/.293 in 42 plate appearances during the 2012 regular season. The 31-year-old will function as organizational infield depth for the Twins.

Ray Olmedo has elected free agency.
Olmedo, 31, was outrighted off the 40-man roster last week and has decided to look for a job elsewhere. He batted .244 (10-for-41) with two doubles and one RBI in 20 games with the White Sox this season.

He's taking Eduardo Escobar's spot as the White Sox' utility infielder. Olmedo was batting .273/.340/.335 in 80 games for Charlotte.

Trevor Plouffe passed an imPACT concussion test on Thursday.
Plouffe took a knee to the head Tuesday night when he tried to break up a double play and was placed on the 7-day disabled list because of his initial wooziness. However, he has already done some cardio work and should return right around when he's first eligible.

The best-case scenario is that Mastroianni will resume weight-bearing activities in three weeks. However, he's expected to be sidelined until the second half of the season.
