Matt Thornton (elbow) threw live batting practice Wednesday with no issues.
Thornton has been taking it slowly since the start of spring training due to inflammation in his pitching elbow. The injury isn't a major concern and the 36-year-old remains on track to be ready for Opening Day.

He was able to mix in all of his pitches during the session. Thornton had been dealing with some inflammation in his pitching elbow, but it appears he's now ready to roll.

Matt Thornton (elbow) played catch Thursday without incident.
"The MRI was extremely over the top precautionary," said Thornton. "It was the back side of the elbow and the ligaments are fine. It’s probably just tendinitis I’m guessing, whatever you want to call it. I’ll get that area under control and move forward. I’m fine." Thornton expects to play catch again before progressing to a bullpen session and eventually live batting practice. He's aiming to make his Cactus League debut on March 5, so he should have plenty of time to get ready for Opening Day.

Thornton was diagnosed with inflammation in his elbow earlier this week following an MRI, but he said Wednesday that the pain doesn't compare to what he dealt with back in 2010. The veteran southpaw should only need a few outings to get ready for the season, so the White Sox will likely ease him into action.

Beckham had surgery in mid-April to remove the hamate bone from his hand, so the White Sox don't want to take any chances. He's expected to be held out of action until next Wednesday at the earliest.

Chris Sale (shoulder) played catch on Saturday and has deemed himself ready to make his Tuesday start.
"Everything is on track and I’ll be ready to go on Tuesday," Sale said, according to MLB.com's Scott Merkin. He was scratched from his turn this past Wednesday due to mild tendinitis in his left posterior shoulder but is feeling better after a few days of rest. It's great news for Sale owners, as the left-hander has a 5-2 record and 2.53 ERA through nine starts this season.

Gavin Floyd underwent successful surgery Wednesday to repair the ulnar collateral ligament and flexor muscle in his right elbow.
The surgeon told the White Sox that the operation "could not have gone better." However, since he needed two major areas operated on, the recovery is expected to be 14-19 months rather than the standard 12 months for Tommy John surgery. With that timetable, Floyd probably shouldn't be counted on for a whole lot in 2014. He'll be a free agent over the winter.

Septimo has been out all season with a left shoulder strain. He's begun a rehab assignment but now will not be eligible to return until May 22.
