Mike Hessman announced his retirement from professional baseball on Saturday.
The 37-year-old slugger is the U.S. all-time leader in minor league home runs with 433. He played in only 109 games in his major league career, the last of which coming in a 32 game stint with the Mets in 2010. For his 19 years in the minor leagues, Hessman slashed .233/.316/.466 with 433 home runs and 1207 RBI in 2095 games.
