Entering play on Thursday, Prince Fielder was hitting just .229 in May.
Over 13 games this month, the mammoth slugger has posted a pedestrian (for him, at least) .229/.383/.417 triple slash. With 11 of those games against the Astros, Twins and Indians, Fielder owners were surely looking for more fantasy production. Since posting a 1.009 OPS in the season's opening month, pitchers are tap dancing around Fielder, walking him 13 times (including three HBPs and one IBB) in 60 May plate appearances. He leads the American League in walks and times on base.

Prince Fielder belted his seventh home run of the season in the Tigers' win over the Twins on Tuesday.
Fielder singled in the first inning and launched a two-run shot in the fifth, finishing the night 2-for-4 with two RBI. Miguel Cabrera and Alex Avila also homered in the game. Fielder owns an exceptional .301/.417/.591 batting line and 27 RBI in 25 games this season. He should be in the MVP running when all is said and done.

Prince Fielder will serve as the DH for Saturday's game against the Braves.
The Tigers are just looking to lessen the workload on Fielder, who's started all 21 games this season. Victor Martinez will replace him at first base.

Prince Fielder went 2-for-4 with a home run in Sunday's extra-innings loss.
Fielder was hitting just .160 with no home runs over his last seven games, so it's a much needed breakout. Despite the massive slump, Fielder still ranks sixth in the American League in slugging-percentage. His 12 walks are behind only Albert Pujols and Dustin Pedroia.

Tigers placed OF Austin Jackson on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.
Jackson is expected to need the full 15 days. Avisail Garcia was called up from Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding roster move and will get regular playing time in the Detroit outfield over the next two-plus weeks. Jackson was batting .272/.333/.371 with two homers, 11 RBI, five stolen bases and 33 runs scored in 34 games.

The bad news is Dotel still isn't feeling quite right, but the good news is Dr. Andrews found no structural damage. Dotel will rest for six days before attempting to resume his throwing program. He's out indefinitely.
