Scott Kazmir gave up five earned runs in 2 2/3 innings Saturday as the Indians lost to the Nationals.
Kazmir allowed homers to Ryan Zimmerman and Jayson Werth in the top of the first inning and the start got no better from there. He wound up yielding four hits -- three homers -- and four walks. The left-hander has a rough 5.89 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 55 total frames.
Jun 15 - 10:46 PM
Scott Kazmir fell to 3-4 after allowing four runs in six-plus innings against the Rangers.
Kazmir was decent for six innings tonight, striking out five and walking two. For some reason, Terry Francona wanted more and sent him back out for the seventh. He gave up a double and a single before being pulled from a 3-3 game, and he ended up taking the loss after one of the inherited runners came around to score.
Jun 11 - 12:08 AM
Scott Kazmir struck out seven but allowed four runs over six frames in Tuesday's loss to the Yankees.
Kazmir wasn't bad, but he left a changeup out and over the plate to Mark Teixeira in the third inning, and it was lost over the left-field wall. The southpaw was unscored upon in his other five frames. Kazmir has been up-and-down this season, but he's throwing strikes and getting punchouts, making him appealing for fantasy owners. He'll face the Rangers next.
Jun 4 - 10:53 PM
Scott Kazmir scattered eight hits while allowing just one run over seven innings Thursday in a victory over the Reds.
Kazmir's velocity had slipped over his last three starts, but he was sharper and more effective tonight. Skepticism remains warranted given the left-hander's history. He's had a nice slider all year long, but that's not going to take him far if he can't get ahead with his fastball.

Lou Marson has been pulled from his rehab assignment with Triple-A Columbus due to continued soreness in his right shoulder.
Bad news for Marson, who has been sidelined since late April with right shoulder inflammation. There's no timetable for his return.

Sidelined
Nick Swisher received a cortisone shot in his left shoulder and is likely to be sidelined until at least Friday.
The shoulder has been an ongoing issue for Swisher, who aggravated the injury during Sunday's game. An MRI has ruled out any structural damage, but the Indians haven't ruled out the possibility of a stint on the disabled list. The Indians figure to see how he responds to the shot before making a roster move.

Asdrubal Cabrera (quad) has resumed a throwing program.
Cabrera has been shut down since being placed on the disabled list earlier this month. Originally given a 3-4 week timetable, the Indians are hoping that he can return sometime before the All-Star break.

Indians transferred RHP Brett Myers from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The move was made to clear room on the 40-man roster for John McDonald. Myers has been out since late April with a mild UCL tear and was shut down last month after he felt renewed soreness. He's throwing again but could possibly return as a reliever.
Jun 10
4
Zach McAllister
D.L.
Zach McAllister (finger) is expected to be sidelined anywhere from two to four weeks.
It sounds like it will probably be closer to four weeks, as Indians manager Terry Francona said the club will be "overly cautious" if they need to. "I think throwing his curveball aggravated it," said Francona. "Last year he was just flipping the curveball. Now he's been gripping it and ripping it and that seam [on the ball] has been digging into that finger. We've got to get that soreness out of there."

Josh Tomlin (elbow) has been throwing two bullpen sessions per week.
He's also playing catch a couple times per week. Tomlin underwent Tommy John surgery last August but could possibly make it back to the Indians before the end of the season.

Chris Perez (shoulder) is expected to be activated from the disabled list Friday.
Perez, out since May 26 with shoulder soreness, allowed two hits and struck out one Sunday in his first rehab appearance with Low-A Lake County. He'll have to make it through another appearance Tuesday, but it sounds like he's on track to return later this week. Vinnie Pestano will continue to serve as the fill-in closer for now, though he has only notched one save during Perez's absence.

Blake Wood (elbow) will continue his minor league rehab assignment Wednesday with Class A Lake County.
Wood felt some soreness in his surgically-repaired elbow during his first appearance on Saturday, but it was only a minor scare. The 27-year-old right-hander is currently in recovery mode from Tommy John surgery and will likely need a handful of appearances before he's a legitimate consideration for the major league roster.
May 14

Frank Herrmann
D.L.
Indians transferred RHP Frank Herrmann from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The move clears a spot for the newly-claimed Robert Whitenack on the 40-man roster. Herrmann had Tommy John surgery in March and will miss the entire 2013 season.
