Wilson Valdez has signed a contract with the Camden Riversharks of the independent Atlantic League.
Valdez was released by the Marlins after opening the 2013 season with a .232/.275/.259 batting line in 122 plate appearances at Triple-A New Orleans. The 35-year-old probably won't make it back to the major leagues.

Valdez signed a minor league contract with the Fish on March 23 and didn't have much time to win a job. He will function as organizational infield depth this season.

Marlins signed INF Wilson Valdez to a minor league contract.
The deal includes an invite to spring training. Valdez was just released by the Giants and should compete for a utility job with the Marlins, who cut ties with Chone Figgins earlier this week.

Olivo hasn't started since May 12 and is batting just .203/.250/.392 in 33 games this season. The Miami Herald reports that Olivo walked out on the Marlins after the team refused to grant his request for release. Jordan Brown has been called up from Triple-A New Orleans to take his roster spot.

Kotchman was due for a large dip in playing time anyway with starting first baseman Logan Morrison now back from the 60-day disabled list. Kotchman suffered the injury on Saturday and will probably be out three weeks.
