Asdrubal Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a two-run single in Saturday's loss to the Braves.
Cabrera plated two runs with his single off Sam Freeman in the eighth inning. Those were the first two runs to score in the game after Julio Teheran and Jacob deGrom kept things down over the first seven innings. On the whole, the veteran infielder has provided an unexpected offensive jolt in the early going this season. He's now working to an .354/.391/.608 triple-slash with four home runs, 12 RBI and 16 runs scored in 20 games. He's now notched multi-hit games in four of his last six contests.
Apr 21 - 10:31 PM
Asdrubal Cabrera went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts in Saturday's loss to the Brewers.
Cabrera entered Saturday's game slashing a hearty .347/.396/.566, but he was unable to keep the good times going against a locked-in Chase Anderson. His 0-for put an end to an 11-game hitting streak. The veteran infielder should be good for double-digit home runs this year -- he's bopped at least 10 in each of the last three seasons -- but you can reasonably expect his bat to cool by degrees as the season progresses.
Apr 14 - 10:48 PM
Asdrubal Cabrera launched a pair of solo homers to lead the Mets to an 8-6 win over the Marlins on Tuesday.
The Mets improved to 9-1. Cabrera has been the team's best hitter to date, collecting three homers and three doubles in 41 at-bats. He's already scored nine runs.
Apr 10 - 10:43 PM
Asdrubal Cabrera launched his first home run of the season as the Mets outlasted the Nationals on Sunday night in Washington.
Cabrera tagged Nationals' starter Tanner Roark for a solo shot in the fifth inning, increasing their advantage to 5-3. He also singled in the ballgame, finishing the night 2-for-4 plus a walk and a pair of runs scored. While not the prototypical middle of the order hitter, Cabrera is moonlighting as one, slashing .333/.405/.515 with a homer and three RBI.

Travis d'Arnaud
60-Day DL
Travis d'Arnaud underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery on Tuesday morning.
Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News hears the procedure was successful. The 29-year-old catcher will be out for the remainder of the 2018 season. Tomas Nido and Jose Lobaton are sharing time behind the plate for the Mets with Kevin Plawecki currently on the shelf with a hand injury.

Kevin Plawecki
10-Day DL
Kevin Plawecki (hand) is expected to be sidelined for 3-4 weeks.
Plawecki has a hairline fracture in his left hand as a result of a hit by pitch Wednesday. With Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) also sidelined, the Mets will go with Tomas Nido and Jose Lobaton at catcher for now.

T.J. Rivera
60-Day DL
Mets placed INF T.J. Rivera on the 60-day disabled list with a torn right ulnar collateral ligament.
The move creates a spot on the 40-man roster for Jason Vargas. Rivera will miss the beginning of the season while working his way back from last September's Tommy John surgery.

Sidelined
Todd Frazier is not in the Mets' lineup Sunday because of a sore toe as a result of being spiked Saturday.
Manager Mickey Callaway noted that he was looking to give Frazier his first day off of the season, anyway, so this ailment doesn't appear to be a big deal. Frazier should be back in there Tuesday after Monday's off day. Wilmer Flores is at third base Sunday.
Apr 22

David Wright
10-Day DL
Mets placed 3B David Wright on the 10-day disabled list with back and shoulder injuries.
Wright hasn't appeared in a major league game since May 2016 and it's uncertain at this point if he will ever return. The 35-year-old third baseman is owed $20 million in 2018, $15 million in 2019, and $12 million in 2020, though the Mets do have an insurance policy on that contract.

10-Day DL
Jason Vargas (hand) gave up three runs over four innings Monday in a rehab start with Triple-A Las Vegas.
The southpaw gave up three hits and walked a pair while striking out four. He got stretched out to 66 pitches in preparation for his season debut Saturday against the Padres. Vargas is getting a late start on the season after suffering a non-displaced fracture in his right (non-throwing) hand toward the end of spring training.

Rafael Montero
60-Day DL
Mets placed RHP Rafael Montero on the 60-day disabled list with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
Montero is set to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery on Tuesday. He'll miss the entire 2018 season and will likely be a bit behind at the start of next season, as well.

10-Day DL
Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports that Anthony Swarzak (shoulder) has suffered a setback in his rehabilitation, and will stay in New York to receive treatment.
Swarzak has begun throwing off of flat ground as recently as Monday, but after feeling some discomfort, they're shutting the right-hander back down. Instead of travelling with the team to Florida, he'll stay behind and receive the treatment, and then figure out what the next step is in his recovery. His original ETA of early May looks to have taken a hit.
