In his first start since his no-hitter, Max Scherzer allowed two runs over eight innings in a 5-2 win over the Phillies on Friday.
It was his 100th career victory. Early on, it looked like Scherzer had a chance at pulling a Johnny Vander Meer with back-to-back no-hitters, but he gave up a double to Freddy Galvis with one out in the sixth inning for his first baserunner of the night. Domonic Brown had an RBI double one inning later before Ben Revere added a solo homer in the eighth. Still, it was another excellent outing from Scherzer, who allowed five hits in all while walking none and striking out seven. He's now 9-5 on the year to go along with a 1.79 ERA. He'll try to keep his dominant run going when he faces the Braves next week on the road. Jun 26 - 10:10 PM
