Colby Rasmus went hitless in a second straight game Thursday in the loss to the Yankees.
Rasmus hit four homers in his first 13 games, but he's been ice cold in the last nine and he's up to a crazy 33 strikeouts in 71 at-bats. The Jays have to at least bench him against left-handers until he heats back up. A platoon role might suit him best anyway.
Apr 25 - 10:21 PM
Colby Rasmus hit a grand slam off Kirby Yates in the Blue Jays' 6-1 win over the Rays on Wednesday.
Ramus went 0-for-3 against the major league pitchers he faced, and he's still hitting just .175 for the spring. There's little reason to think he'll be an asset in mixed leagues early on.
Mar 27 - 4:41 PM
Colby Rasmus hit his first spring homer as part of the Blue Jays' 3-1 win over the Rays on Thursday.
Rasmus, who has dealt with soreness in his non-throwing shoulder, had been 4-for-25 with no extra-base hits this spring. The Blue Jays will almost certainly open the season with him in center field, but they have Rajai Davis, Emilio Bonifacio and Anthony Gose available as alternatives at the position.
Mar 21 - 4:19 PM
Colby Rasmus went 0-for-4 on Saturday and is 2-for-18 since returning from a sore right shoulder.
Rasmus is 3-for-23 with no extra-base hits overall this spring. One wonders just how patient the Blue Jays will be with Rasmus is he gets off to another slow start this year. With Rajai Davis on the bench and Anthony Gose in Triple-A, they'll have alternatives in center field.

D.L.
Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos said it "would not surprise me" if Jose Reyes returned in late June.
Reyes had the walking boot on his left foot removed Tuesday and is evidently recovering a bit ahead of schedule, as he had been expected to sit out until around the All-Star break. The shortstop is still in the early stages of his recovery, though. A lot can happen over the next six weeks.

Rajai Davis (oblique) has been sent to Florida to start his rehab.
Davis hasn't played since May 10 due to a strained oblique. Blue Jays manager John Gibbons doesn't expect it to be a long-term injury, so it's possible he could return later this month.

Josh Johnson (triceps) will begin a rehab assignment Monday with High-A Dunedin.
Johnson has been on the DL since April 29, but he hasn't had any issues during his throwing program. He'll likely need 2-3 games before he's cleared to rejoin the Blue Jays' rotation. Johnson is on track for a return in the early part of June.

J.A. Happ
D.L.
J.A. Happ (head, knee) is expected to be sidelined 4-6 weeks.
Happ will avoid throwing for a week before beginning to toss on flat ground. The Blue Jays are optimistic that the left-hander will be sidelined closer to four weeks. All things considered, that's about as good as Happ and the club could have hoped for.
May 9
6
Dustin McGowan
D.L.
Dustin McGowan (shoulder) will continue his minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo.
McGowan allowed one hit and one walk over two scoreless innings with High-A Dunedin and notched four strikeouts. The Blue Jays can't count on him given his lengthy injury history, but he could be an option to join the bullpen later this month if all goes well.
May 17
7
Drew Hutchison
D.L.
Drew Hutchison (elbow) is on track to face live hitters in about three weeks.
Hutchison is currently making his way back from Tommy John surgery last August. While the 22-year-old right-hander is unlikely to see any game action until late in the season, he feels good about his progress. "You always want to do more but you know you have to follow the process and do what they tell you to do because that’s what’s in your best interest," said Hutchison. "I feel good, which is good, but you also realize that it’s the process and you need to follow the process."

Kyle Drabek
D.L.
Kyle Drabek (elbow) expects to throw live batting practice in the next week or two.
Drabek threw a bullpen session Monday in extended spring training. He's coming back from the second Tommy John surgery of his career, so the Blue Jays figure to take things slow, but he could be looking at a return around midseason if all goes well.
