Pinch-hitter Ike Davis hit a walkoff infield single in the bottom of the 10th inning to beat the Blue Jays 4-3 on Wednesday.
With two outs and a runner on third, Jose Reyes fielded Davis' grounder and fired to first. The ball and the runner arrived at the bag at about the same time, sending the umpiring crew into a lengthy review process. The tape confirmed Davis beat the throw (by perhaps a faction of a millisecond), scoring Josh Reddick. Oakland improves to 44-52. If not for a horrid record in one-run games, they'd be right in the thick of the playoff race. Consider this: Oakland's run differential (+48) is 19 better than the 52-41 Yankees (+29).
