Joel Peralta filled in admirably with Fernando Rodney potentially unavailable on Friday, recording the final four outs to preserve a two-run lead and earn his first save of the season.
After the Orioles erupted for six runs in the eighth inning, Peralta was called upon to get the final out of the inning. He then stayed on to pitch a perfect ninth inning and preserve the wild win. With Fernando Rodney struggling, Peralta is certainly worth stashing if speculating for saves in mixed leagues.

Joel Peralta (neck) threw a successful 25-pitch bullpen session on Monday morning in Rays camp.
Peralta had to withdraw from the 2013 World Baseball Classic because of a minor neck injury that he suffered last week while getting out of his car to buy a sandwich. But he should be fully recovered by Opening Day.

Joel Peralta has officially withdrawn from pitching for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic.
Peralta is dealing with a neck injury and doesn't want to fall too far behind. He shouldn't have an issue being ready for Opening Day, though, as long as he doesn't have a setback.

The right-hander is still dealing with a neck injury, and the Rays understandably don't want him to push things but appearing in game action before he's ready. Peralta was signed to a new two-year deal over the winter.

Rays placed LHP David Price on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left triceps muscle.
Price suffered the injury Wednesday night in his start against the Red Sox. An MRI taken shortly after his exit showed no major damage and the Rays are optimistic that he will only miss a few turns in the rotation, but nothing is certain quite yet. Jake Odorizzi and Chris Archer are the primary candidates to replace Price.

Gomes had been pitching well for Tampa, putting up a 1.03 WHIP and 16/2 K/BB ratio over 11 2/3 innings. It's not clear at this point how long he'll be out. Josh Lueke has replaced him on the roster.

Rays transferred RHP Jeff Niemann from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the newly-acquired Jeff Beliveau. Niemann underwent shoulder surgery last week and is unlikely to return this season.

Rays purchased the contract of RHP Juan Carlos Oviedo, placed him on the 60-day disabled list with a right elbow injury.
Oviedo is working his way back from Tommy John surgery and will miss most, if not all, of the 2013 season. The Rays obviously have decided he's worth hanging onto in hopes he can contribute in 2014.
