Ryan Theriot said Wednesday that he's had offers from teams, but it's "not really exactly what I’m looking for playing-time-wise."
"I’ve had some stuff come up, no doubt," Theriot said. "It’s not really exactly what I’m looking for playing-time-wise. That’s where we’re at right now. We’ll see what happens." Theriot is fooling himself if he thinks he can get a starting job, though perhaps he could have a shot somewhere getting some starts against left-handed pitching. Obviously he's not getting what he wants at this point, though, and he's prepared to retire if nothing comes along that entices him. He has also considered becoming an agent.

Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that Ryan Theriot is considering becoming an agent.
Theriot has struggled to attract interest this offseason after posting a weak .270/.316/.321 batting line in 384 plate appearances with the Giants in 2012. The 33-year-old infielder has yet to file his retirement papers.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Ryan Theriot has been talking to the Indians and Rangers.
Theriot is still holding out hope of competing for a starting job somewhere, though, and he wouldn't be able to do that in Cleveland or Texas. At this point, he should just be happy if he gets a guaranteed deal somewhere.

Hank Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that Ryan Theriot is unlikely to return to the Giants.
The veteran infielder is seeking a full-time role, which the Giants don't have available for him. While he desires the increased playing time, he will likely have to settle for a reserve role wherever he ends up.

Abreu began the season on the disabled list with a strained quad. The 28-year-old could serve as a utility infielder with the big club once he's back to full health.

Giants placed RHP Ryan Vogelsong on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right hand.
Vogelsong was hit by a pitch while swinging the bat in the fifth inning Tuesday and suffered fractures above and below the top knuckle in his pinkie. He's expected to undergo surgery Tuesday and will likely miss around six weeks. Chad Gaudin is the most likely replacement for the rotation, though the Giants could call up Michael Kickham from Triple-A.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy indicated Friday that knee surgery is a "strong possibility" for Santiago Casilla.
They'll announce their decision later Friday evening. Casilla has been dealing with a cyst in his right knee since last season, and became enough of an issue recently that he had to be placed on the DL. If he undergoes the surgery, which appears likely at this point, the timetable for his recovery would be four weeks.
