Freddie Freeman delivered a walk-off two-run homer as the Braves came back to beat the Mets 2-1 on Monday.
Atlanta mustered zero offense off Dillon Gee before Justin Upton led off the ninth with a single and Freeman homered -- his first since June 3 -- to end the game. Freeman ended the game 3-for-4 and also collected a double. He's now batting a superb .327/.383/.489 on the season.

Freddie Freeman delivered a bases-loaded, walk-off single to complete a ninth-inning comeback as the Braves beat the Giants 6-5 on Saturday.
The hit was Freeman's only one of the day but it came at the right time. The RBI moved him to 45 of the season, and the first baseman is hitting .312/.370/.460 this year. He hasn't hit a homer since June 3, but that's about the only gripe with the young first baseman at this point.

Freddie Freeman went 2-for-3 with a home run on Friday, but the Braves lost to the Nationals.
Freeman hit the home run, a solo shot, in the second inning before singling in a run in the seventh. He's got five home runs to go with 34 RBI, and he's hitting .319/.381/.475 after Friday's game. Unfortunately for the Braves, he seems to be one of the only Braves batters hitting well these days.

Freddie Freeman went 2-for-4 with a triple in the Braves' loss to the Blue Jays on Wednesday.
The first baseman is now hitting .309 this year, and he's got six multi-hit performances in his last eight games. The triple was his first of the season and only the third of his career, so he's not likely to flash the wheels much more this year. Even so, he's currently about as hot as they come.

Braves placed C Evan Gattis on the 15-day disabled list with a strained oblique.
No word on how or when the injury occurred, but oblique strains usually require some extended rest. Gattis has been one of the best stories in baseball this season, coming out of nowhere to hit .252 with 14 home runs and a .894 OPS in 53 games. Tyler Pastornicky will take his place on the active roster while Gerald Laird will function as the primary backup to Brian McCann.

DeWitt appeared in four games with the Braves as a utility infielder. He should be optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett once he's deemed healthy enough to return.

An MRI on Brandon Beachy's elbow taken Saturday showed no structural damage.
Beachy was scratched from his scheduled start against the Mets with tenderness, but the MRI showed only fluid and no damage to the elbow itself. That's good news, as it just requires rest. The Braves aren't hurting for a starter at the moment, so they'll give Beachy all the time he needs as he continues to work his way back from last year's Tommy John surgery.

Jonny Venters underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery on Thursday afternoon.
It's the second time he's had the procedure in his baseball career. Venters can now be ruled out for the remainder of the 2013 season and is also likely to miss the first couple months of the 2014 campaign. It's obviously a pretty big loss for the Atlanta bullpen.

Eric O'Flaherty will undergo Tommy John surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn left ulnar collateral ligament.
It was inevitable after an MRI over the weekend revealed the bad news. In addition to obviously missing the rest of this season, O'Flaherty will likely be sidelined for the first couple months of the 2014 campaign, as well.

Obviously it's impossible to predict how much time Ayala might miss. David Carpenter has been recalled to take his spot in the bullpen.

Cristhian Martinez (shoulder) still doesn't have a timetable for his return.
The Braves reliever has been sidelined since April 12 with a right shoulder sprain, and apparently it was serious enough that the Braves still don't have any idea when he might be back. The right-hander had a 3.91 ERA with 65 strikeouts in 73 2/3 innings last year.
