Johnny Cueto allowed just one run in six innings Sunday as the Reds beat the Brewers 5-1.
The Cardinals lost to the Marlins so Cincinnati was able to pick up a game in the National League Central standings. They're now just 2 1/2 back. Cueto, making his first start since being activated from the disabled list, yielded five hits and no walks while fanning three Milwaukee hitters. He has a brilliant 4-0 record, 2.08 ERA and 0.88 WHIP on the year.

Reds activated RHP Johnny Cueto from the 15-day disabled list.
Cueto spent the minimum amount of time on the DL with a strained lat, an injury he's dealt with a couple times this season. The right-hander has been terrific this season when healthy, posting a 2.17 ERA over six starts. He'll get the ball on Sunday against the Brewers.

Cueto will be activated when first eligible and start Sunday against the Brewers. He returns to a 2.17 ERA over six starts this season. Reds manager Dusty Baker said that it's ''possible" Tony Cingrani will remain on the roster in a bullpen role.

The Reds are hoping that Johnny Cueto (lat) will be ready to rejoin the rotation on Sunday.
Cueto threw a 35-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday without any issues. "I felt really good," Cueto said after the throwing session at Wrigley Field. "I feel ready now." The right-hander will throw again on Friday before the Reds determine whether he's ready to rejoin the rotation. It appears that Tony Cingrani will receive just the one start on Tuesday.

That's a bit earlier than Ludwick previously estimated. However, he still thinks that he will not be ready to return for another two months. Most fantasy owners can afford to move on at this point.

Chris Heisey (hamstring) resumed a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Monday and went 2-for-4 with two singles and a run scored.
Heisey served as the designated hitter. The 28-year-old aggravated his hamstring injury during his first attempt at a rehab assignment last month, so the Reds figures to be extra cautious this time around. Still, a return before the end of the month appears realistic if he can avoid setbacks.

Broxton has been idle since being placed on the disabled list June 14 with a right elbow flexor strain. "He’s been working on strengthening it," trainer Paul Lessard said Wednesday. "He finally has his full range of motion back. We wanted to get it flushed out." There is no timetable for the right-hander's return.
