Smith tossed 25 pitches and felt no lingering pain or discomfort in his left oblique. The right-hander is aiming to make his Cactus League debut early next week.

Smith is behind the rest of the Indians' pitchers, but his injury is no longer an issue this point. As a reliever, he shouldn't need much work to get ready for Opening Day.

Joe Smith (oblique) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Wednesday with no issues.
Smith is still a little behind schedule, but it appears the oblique is no longer an issue and he'll have no trouble getting ready for Opening Day. "This was like his first day of spring training," Indians manager Terry Francona said. "In two days he’ll throw a 30-pitch bullpen."

Lou Marson (shoulder) admitted Monday that there is no timetable for his return to the Indians' active roster.
Marson has begun throwing but is not yet performing any other baseball activities due to lingering soreness in his shoulder and neck. "It's definitely frustrating," the catcher told MLB.com. "I know what it is and kind of what I have to do. Hopefully, I can get on the field soon."

Myers threw 33 pitches last week in his first rehab start and will probably try to top 50 pitches on Wednesday. He'll make at least one more start in the minors after that before being considered for activation. The right-hander is attempting to pitch through a UCL tear.

The move was made in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for the arrival of Michael Bourn. Tomlin is recovering from Tommy John surgery and is expected to miss the entire 2013 campaign.

Wood felt some soreness in his surgically-repaired elbow during his first appearance on Saturday, but it was only a minor scare. The 27-year-old right-hander is currently in recovery mode from Tommy John surgery and will likely need a handful of appearances before he's a legitimate consideration for the major league roster.

The move clears a spot for the newly-claimed Robert Whitenack on the 40-man roster. Herrmann had Tommy John surgery in March and will miss the entire 2013 season.
