Rick Porcello was impressive in Friday’s victory over the Rangers, allowing only one run on five hits over 5 2/3 innings.
Porcello uncharacteristically punched out six on the evening while allowing only one walk. The only damage against him on the evening was a solo homer off the bat of Geovany Soto in the fifth inning. After a brutal beginning to the season, the 24-year-old right-hander has rebounded nicely, posting four consecutive quality starts. He’ll look to extend that streak to five when he takes on the Twins at home on Thursday.

Rick Porcello held the Indians to two runs over six innings Sunday but took a no-decision.
He gave up just four hits, walked a pair and struck out six. Porcello was in line for his second win of the season, but Jose Valverde coughed up the lead in the ninth and the Tigers lost in extra innings. The right still has an ugly 6.68 ERA for the season but has put together three straight quality starts since last month's disaster in Anaheim. He gets the Rangers on the road next.

Rick Porcello will not make his next start until May 12 against the Indians.
The Tigers have off-days on Monday and Thursday next week, which means that Porcello will be skipped in the rotation and pitch out of the bullpen for now. The 24-year-old gave up three runs in seven innings Thursday against the Astros, but still holds a rough 7.52 ERA across five starts and one relief appearance this season.

Porcello allowed five hits, walked none and struck out seven. Unfortunately, two of the five hits were homers off the bats of Jason Castro and Carlos Pena. Porcello has still won just once this season, but at least he's struck out 12 batters in his last two starts. He opened the season with three strikeouts through three starts.

Tigers placed OF Austin Jackson on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.
Jackson is expected to need the full 15 days. Avisail Garcia was called up from Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding roster move and will get regular playing time in the Detroit outfield over the next two-plus weeks. Jackson was batting .272/.333/.371 with two homers, 11 RBI, five stolen bases and 33 runs scored in 34 games.

The bad news is Dotel still isn't feeling quite right, but the good news is Dr. Andrews found no structural damage. Dotel will rest for six days before attempting to resume his throwing program. He's out indefinitely.
