Yu Darvish threw 130 pitches while allowing four runs over eight innings Thursday in a win over the Tigers.
With a 10-4 lead, we're not sure why the Rangers didn't pull Darvish after seven. Still, it's not like the right-hander is a stranger to 130-pitch starts, even if it's his first since he jumped to MLB. Also, Darvish was lights out after a rough start tonight, retiring 15 of the last 16 (and the final 10) batters he faced. He's 7-1 with a 2.97 ERA.
May 16 - 11:53 PM
Yu Darvish surrendered four earned runs in eight innings but the Rangers topped the Astros 8-7 on Saturday.
Darvish had some control issues, yielding three walks against a Houston lineup that is not known for its plate discipline. But the right-hander struck out nine and limited the Astros to four hits while moving to 6-1 on the season. He will carry a brilliant 2.73 ERA and 0.91 WHIP into his next scheduled start against the Tigers.
May 11 - 10:44 PM
Yu Darvish allowed four runs in six innings but the Rangers defeated the White Sox 10-6 on Tuesday.
Yu wasn't his best, but it was still good enough to get his fifth win of the year. He allowed seven hits and three walks, but nine punchouts helped him limit the damage. The right-hander now has a 2.33 ERA with 58 strikeouts in 38 2/3 innings, and he's an early favorite for the AL Cy Young. His next turn comes Sunday against the Red Sox.
May 1 - 12:13 AM
Yu Darvish overwhelmed the Angels on Wednesday, striking out 11 in six scoreless innings.
Even though the Rangers' nine-run fourth inning threatened to throw him out of rhythm, Darvish got through six easily enough. He reached double figures in strikeouts for the third time this season and improved to 5-1 with a 3.83 ERA in eight career starts against the Angels.

Rangers placed 2B Ian Kinsler on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 18, with an intercostal strain.
Kinsler hasn't started the last two games with rib soreness and said he still felt discomfort during batting practice on Sunday. The Rangers aren't overly concerned about the injury, but top prospect Jurickson Profar will be called up to replace Kinsler on the active roster. Kinsler is batting .302/.369/.500 with seven home runs through his first 40 games this season.

Matt Harrison recently had a setback with his back that required an additional surgery on Wednesday.
Harrison underwent an operation on April 23 to repair a herniated disk in his lower back but began feeling additional discomfort this week, necessitating another procedure. According to T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com, the Rangers are "operating under the assumption that Harrison will pitch again this season, but he will be out for at least three months." In other words, we won't see him again until August at the earliest, and it seems like there's a good chance it will be longer than that.

Alexi Ogando (biceps) underwent an MRI which revealed no structural damage.
Ogando was placed on the disabled list on Thursday with biceps tendinitis after he felt some pain during Wednesday's start against the Athletics. It's an encouraging sign that no more serious damage was found, and his stay on the DL should be a short one. Josh Lindblom is expected to hold his place in the rotation while he's sidelined.

Colby Lewis (elbow) acknowledged on Monday afternoon that he's unhappy with his fastball velocity.
Lewis was sitting around 85-86 mph in his rehab start Monday at Double-A Frisco and wants to be closer to 89-91 mph by the time he returns to the major leagues. The hope had been that he would be ready to rock during the first week of June, but a more realistic timetable calls for him to be activated near the middle of the month. Lewis is on his way back from major right elbow surgery.

Neftali Feliz (elbow) is long-tossing at 120 feet.
Feliz's rehab from Tommy John surgery is going fine, although it's not yet been announced when he'll be ready to throw off a mound. We expect him to return to a major league mound late in the summer.

Joakim Soria (elbow) will be shut down for 2-3 weeks with a strained pectoral muscle and is now not expected to return until around July 1.
A tough break for the Rangers, as Soria had been slated to join the Rangers' bullpen as soon as late next month. The good news is that his surgically-repaired elbow is fine. The Rangers will continue to use a host of players to set up for Joe Nathan.

Miller is working his way back from Tommy John surgery. He'll need plenty of rehab time but could be a relief option for the Rangers next month.
