Juan Francisco, starting in his third consecutive game for the Brewers, went 1-for-3 in Thursday's loss to the Phillies.
He started at first base on Tuesday and Thursday, while manning the hot corner on Wednesday. If he continues to draw regular playing time at first base while Corey Hart remains sidelined, his immense power potential makes him a solid addition in deeper mixed leagues.

Brewers acquired 3B Juan Francisco from the Braves for minor league LHP Tom Keeling.
Francisco was designated for assignment by the Braves last week after batting just .241/.287/.398 through his first 35 games. The 25-year-old will see playing time at first base and serve in a backup role to Aramis Ramirez with the Brewers. Keeling, 25, is a Double-A reliever with a 3.18 ERA in 17 appearances this season.

Braves designated 3B Juan Francisco for assignment.
It's a surprising move given that the Braves traded for Francisco a little over one year ago. The 25-year-old batted just .237/.281/.420 in 128 games with Atlanta, but he's young and has some pop which should lead to him drawing heavy interest on waivers. The Braves will start Chris Johnson at third base going forward.

Juan Francisco hit his first career grand slam Wednesday off the Reds' J.J. Hoover.
Those two were traded for one another a year ago, so this had to feel especially good for Francisco. The homer was his fifth in 75 at-bats this season. His 28/4 K/BB ratio is less than encouraging, but he's been a nice starter against right-handed pitching so far.

Brewers GM Doug Melvin said Thursday that Corey Hart (knee) might not be back until after the All-Star break.
Hart doesn't have much confidence yet in the strength of his surgically-repaired right knee and has yet to run the bases at full speed. He's been sorely missed this season, as Brewers first basemen have combined for a .183/.222/.280 batting line and just four home runs.

Brewers placed 1B Mat Gamel on the 60-day disabled list with a knee injury.
It's a procedural move, as Gamel required surgery in early March to repair a torn right ACL and is expected to miss the entire 2013 season. The Brewers now have an opening on their 40-man roster.

It's a move made in order to clear 40-man roster space for Francisco Rodriguez. Green is out for the season after undergoing hip surgery last month.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that people who have spoken with MLB investigators feel it's likely that "at least some" suspensions will be issued in the Biogenesis case.
MLB has begun interviewing players associated with the case, though they have yet to talk to Ryan Braun or Alex Rodriguez, seemingly because they want to gather enough evidence before confronting them. Interestingly, Heyman notes that MLB officials believe the league's Joint Drug Agreement may allow it to announce suspensions before any appeal process because the names involved have already been leaked. The MLBPA obviously wouldn't be happy with that. While Braun and Rodriguez have garnered most of the attention in the case, Melky Cabrera, Bartolo Colon, Yasmani Grandal, Nelson Cruz, Jhonny Peralta, Everth Cabrera, Francisco Cervelli, Jesus Montero are among the other players who have been connected to the now-shuttered clinic.

Aoki has left the team to be present for the birth of his second child. He is permitted to be away for 24 to 72 hours. Josh Prince has been called up to replace him on the active roster.

That's assuming he's cleared by team physician William Raasch Wednesday following a successful 45-pitch bullpen session Tuesday. Estrada is expected to need just one rehab outing, putting him in line to rejoin the rotation next week.

Hiram Burgos (shoulder) allowed two runs in four innings for High-A Brevard County on Tuesday in his second minor league rehab start.
Burgos, who is working his way back from a right shoulder impingement, struck out four and walked none. It's not clear if he'll require another rehab start. The 25-year-old right-hander has a 6.44 ERA and 18/11 K/BB ratio in 29 1/3 innings over six starts this season.

Chris Narveson (finger) could make another rehab start after being knocked around for five runs -- three earned -- while walking five over 4 2/3 frames his last time out.
The left-hander has yet to pitch five innings during any of his four rehab outings and has allowed 14 runs -- 12 earned -- over his last 11 innings. The Brewers need a starter for the upcoming week, but it appears that it will not be Narveson.

The move was made in order to clear 40-man roster space for Donovan Hand. Rogers remains shut down after feeling tingling in his right arm during a rehab appearance earlier this month. He's out indefinitely.
