White Sox signed RHP Ramon Troncoso to a minor league contract.
He'll presumably be given an invitation to spring training. Troncoso spent all of 2012 at Triple-A with the Dodgers, posting an ugly 6.67 ERA over 45 appearances.

Ramon Troncoso has elected free agency.
The 29-year-old right-hander spent the entire 2012 season toiling at Triple-A Alberquerque, compiling a horrifying 6.67 ERA and 1.74 WHIP over 59 1/3 innings of work. He owns a career 3.92 ERA over 197 1/3 major league innings, and could be worth a gamble for teams starved for bullpen depth.

Dodgers RHP Ramon Troncoso has cleared waivers and been assigned to minor-league camp.
Troncoso was designated for assignment last Thursday. Lit up in Cactus League play, Troncoso could still eventually be summoned to the big leagues after spending part of each of the past four seasons in Los Angeles' bullpen.

Dodgers designated RHP Ramon Troncoso for assignment.
Troncoso allowed eight hits and three earned runs in five innings this spring. The 29-year-old right-hander was on the outside looking in for a bullpen spot anyway.

Gordon Beckham (hand) started at shortstop Monday in his third rehab game with Triple-A Charlotte.
Beckham played shortstop in college and as a prospect, but he has never done so in the majors. Of course, Alexei Ramirez is in the second year of a four-year, $32.5 million contract, so there would have to be an injury or a trade for him to get a look there with the big club. Still, it's an interesting development. Beckham is hitting .462 (6-for-13) with one double and two RBI over three rehab games and should be activated this weekend.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the White Sox have placed infielder Angel Sanchez (back) on waivers.
Sanchez, a Rule 5 pick, has been on the disabled list for a little over a month with a lower back strain and is seven games into a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte. If he goes unclaimed, he will be offered back to the Angels.

Chris Sale has been scratched from Wednesday's scheduled start against the Red Sox due to mild tendinitis in his left posterior shoulder.
It's obviously a tough break for Sale's fantasy owners, but the good news is that the move is viewed as precautionary and he's expected to be ready to start next Tuesday. Hector Santiago will get the ball Wednesday in Sale's place. He'll be pitching on three days' rest.

John Danks (shoulder) will be activated from the disabled list to make his season debut Friday against the Marlins.
White Sox manager Robin Ventura finally made the decision official on Wednesday night. Danks posted a 3.18 ERA during his four rehab starts, but he also had a 15/13 K/BB ratio and is still dealing with diminished velocity. Mixed leaguers should stay away for now.

Gavin Floyd underwent successful surgery Wednesday to repair the ulnar collateral ligament and flexor muscle in his right elbow.
The surgeon told the White Sox that the operation "could not have gone better." However, since he needed two major areas operated on, the recovery is expected to be 14-19 months rather than the standard 12 months for Tommy John surgery. With that timetable, Floyd probably shouldn't be counted on for a whole lot in 2014. He'll be a free agent over the winter.

White Sox transferred LHP Leyson Septimo from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
Septimo has been out all season with a left shoulder strain. He's begun a rehab assignment but now will not be eligible to return until May 22.
