Domonic Brown went 2-for-4 and homered for the Phillies' only run Monday against the Marlins.
With a .250 average and a sub-.300 OBP, Brown hasn't been everything the Phillies were hoping for this year. Still, he's outhitting the rest of the Phillies' outfielders. Only John Mayberry Jr. is matching him in OPS, and all of Mayberry's production has come against lefties (oddly enough, so has most of Brown's). What we're trying to say is that Brown shouldn't have anything to worry about when it comes to playing time.

Domonic Brown singled, ripped a solo homer and scored a pair of runs in Tuesday's win over the Indians.
Brown's longball to lead off the sixth inning, his eighth homer of the year, knocked Scott Kazmir out of the game. After a slow start, Brown has turned it on of late, batting .294 with four homers over 13 games in May. Mixed leaguers should continue to roll him out there with regularity.

Domonic Brown is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.
Brown has begun to heat up at the plate recently, but Phillies manager Charlie Manuel is giving him the day off. John Mayberry, Jr. will start in left field Wednesday with southpaw Barry Zito on the hill for San Francisco.

Domonic Brown launched his sixth home run of the season in Monday's win over the Giants.
Brown's long fifth-inning blast off of Madison Bumgarner took one bounce and landed into McCovey Cove. The youngster is heating up at the dish, sporting a .311 batting mark with four homers and nine RBI over his last 12 games.

Phillies placed C Carlos Ruiz on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 20, with a right hamstring strain.
Ruiz was diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain of his hamstring and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks. It's a tough blow for the Phillies, who just got Ruiz back from his suspension less than one month ago. Erik Kratz and Humberto Quintero will fill in behind the plate once again.

Chase Utley (rib cage) will undergo an MRI on Thursday.
Utley was scratched from Tuesday's lineup after he felt pain and a burning sensation in his right rib cage after taking a swing during batting practice. Rib cage and oblique injuries tend to linger, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him land on the disabled list at this point. Get a backup plan in place in fantasy leagues.

Roy Halladay had surgery on Wednesday to remove a bone spur in his shoulder and repair his torn rotator cuff.
Halladay is hoping to resume throwing in 6-8 weeks and will try to make it back before the end of the 2013 season. The veteran righty had an 8.65 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 35/17 K/BB ratio over his first 34 1/3 innings this season. He can be dropped in all non-keeper leagues.

John Lannan (quad) threw a bullpen session on Saturday afternoon in Clearwater, Florida.
Lannan will throw off a mound again on Monday and should then progress to simulated games. If all goes well, he will join the Phillies at some point in early June. He's been on the disabled list since April 18 with a quad strain.
