Anibal Sanchez twirled an absolute gem against the Twins on Friday, surrendering just one hit and three walks while striking out 12 over nine shutout innings.
He carried his no-hitter into the ninth inning, where a one-out single from Joe Mauer spoiled the memorable night. He was in complete command on the evening, at one point retiring 18 consecutive hitters. He was making a bid for his second career no-hitter, already having turned the feat against the Diamondbacks on September 6, 2006. Sanchez been absolutely dynamite for the Tigers and fantasy owners alike this season, compiling a 5-4 record, 2.38 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 80/17 K/BB ratio over his first 64 1/3 innings. He’ll look to follow up with an encore performance when he takes on the Pirates in Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

Anibal Sanchez was rocked for six runs -- five earned -- in 2 2/3 innings Saturday in a loss to the Rangers.
It was a rare off outing for the right-hander, who had been ace-like all season. He coughed up nine hits and issued two walks, and the dangerous Texas offense was able to turn scoring chances into runs. Sanchez still has a 2.77 ERA and 1.23 WHIP on the year and should bounce back next week against the light-hitting Twins.

Anibal Sanchez pitched the Tigers past the Astros by allowing two runs in seven innings and striking out eight on Monday.
Sanchez still hasn't allowed more than three runs in any of his eight starts this season. Unfortunately, his run support hasn't been nearly so consistent. Tonight's game was the fourth in which the Tigers have scored seven or more runs in his outings. Of course, Sanchez has gotten wins in all of those. On the other hand, the Tigers have scored a total of six runs in his other four starts, resulting in three losses and a no-decision for the right-hander.

Anibal Sanchez allowed three runs -- two earned -- over six innings as the Tigers lost to the Nationals on Wednesday.
Six of the eight hits off Sanchez were singles, but the Nationals were able to push across enough to hand Sanchez his third loss of the season. He continued to rack up the strikeouts, fanning eight in his six innings. The right-hander now has 58 strikeouts in 45 2/3 innings this season. His next start comes Monday against the Astros, another favorable matchup for Sanchez.

Austin Jackson (hamstring) is unlikely be activated from the disabled list when he's eligible Monday.
Jackson landed on the disabled list earlier this month with a strained left hamstring, but we haven't heard much about his progress. That's probably because there's little to update, as Chris Iott of MLive.com hears that he isn't currently doing any physical activity. Fantasy owners will have to hope that changes real soon.

It's the first time he's thrown from the bump since being shut down over the last week. Dotel will eventually need a rehab assignment, but it's not clear when it will begin. He'll likely return sometime next month if all goes well.
