Dustin Richardson has been suspended 50 games for testing positive for five different PEDs.
A former fifth-round draft pick, Richardson was released by the Braves earlier this winter after struggling to rein in his control issues last season at the Triple-A level. The 28-year-old could struggle to find a new opportunity.

Braves released LHP Dustin Richardson.
Richardson has posted a 9.9 K/9 rate during his minor league career, but he has major control issues, posting a BB/9 over 5.0 each of the last three years, which included a 6.1 from this past season. He'll turn just 28 in a few days and should be able to catch on in another organization.

Braves sent LHP Dusin Richardson outright to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Richardson was claimed off waivers from the Marlins in late June. The 27-year-old left-hander has registered a 4.79 ERA and 1.66 WHIP at the Triple-A level this year.

Not a bad gamble by Atlanta. Richardson has suffered from control issues but is just 26 and has struck out over 10.0 per nine innings in his minor league career. He'll report to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Ross suffered the injury during the third inning of Friday's game. The Braves have listed him as day-to-day and he'll be reevaluated Saturday.

The Braves will place Chipper Jones (calf) on the disabled list Saturday.
Not surprising, as Jones' calf injury has only gotten worse over the past two days. He appeared as a pinch-hitter on Wednesday, so he won't be eligible to return for two weeks. Juan Francisco figures to see an uptick in playing time during his absence. The Braves will call up a catcher to replace him on the active roster after David Ross left Friday's game with a groin injury.

Braves placed RHP Arodys Vizcaino on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 26, with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
It's a procedural move, as Vizcaino underwent Tommy John surgery earlier this month. The hard-throwing right-hander will hope to make it back for the start of 2013.

Braves placed LHP Robert Fish on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 26, with left elbow tendinitis.
Fish made three appearances this spring before being shut down due to soreness. The 24-year-old left-hander was selected from the Angels in December's Rule 5 Draft, but the Braves get to keep him around as long as he's on the disabled list.
