Josh Donaldson was named the winner of the 2015 American League Most Valuable Player Award by the Baseball Writers' Association of America on Thursday.
Donaldson managed to unseat reigning MVP Mike Trout after batting .297/.371/.568 with 41 home runs, a league-best 123 RBI and an MLB-best 122 runs scored. Per ESPN's Jayson Stark, the last position player to win an AL MVP after being traded the previous offseason was Dick Allen in 1972.
