Stephen Strasburg held the Indians to one run on one hit and four walks over five innings but suffered the loss in his return from the disabled list.
The only hit Strasburg allowed was a one-out single to Carlos Santana in the fourth, which scored the lone tally against him. He obviously wasn't totally sharp, though, given the four free passes. Still, Strasburg's velocity was fine and, most importantly, he appeared to feel fine physically. Despite a 3-6 record, Strasburg now boasts a 2.50 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. He'll get the Rockies at home next.

Nationals activated RHP Stephen Strasburg from the 15-day disabled list.
Strasburg has been out since late May with a strained lat, but he was officially cleared to rejoin the rotation Sunday after throwing a bullpen session Thursday with no issues. The right-hander will boast a 2.54 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 73/21 K/BB ratio over 74 1/3 innings when he takes on the Indians.

If he wakes up with no soreness on Friday, the ace right-hander should be cleared to return to the Nationals' starting rotation on Sunday to face the Indians. Strasburg has been sidelined since the final day of May with a strained lat muscle. He boasts a 2.54 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 73/21 K/BB ratio in 74 1/3 innings this season.

The 24-year-old ace has registered a 2.54 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 73/21 K/BB ratio across 74 1/3 innings this season. He can be activated in fantasy leagues as soon as he is ready.

Manager Davey Johnson initially suggested it could add weeks to his timetable, but that appeared to be a very cautious estimate. Ramos, who has been plagued with recurring hamstring injuries, is hoping to return around the All-Star break.

Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo said on 106.7 The Fan on Wednesday that Bryce Harper (knee) will resume baseball activities in "the next day or two."
Harper continues to make progress, as he was cleared to progress toward running following a visit to the team doctor earlier this week. While he could begin baseball activities within the next couple of days, there's no timetable for him to return to game action. The 20-year-old outfielder has been sidelined since May 26 with left knee bursitis.

Bernadina developed an infection in his left eye prior to Wednesday's game and was unavailable to play in that contest. It shouldn't be a big deal, but the Nats should provide an update prior to Thursday's contest versus the Rockies.

Mattheus won't require surgery, but since the injury is to his pitching hand he can't do a whole lot while out. He'll have to build his arm strength back up once out of his cast.

Christian Garcia (shoulder, forearm) has been shut down from his rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse.
Garcia has been dealing with shoulder issues and is expected to receive treatment and be rested as a precautionary measure. The Nationals want Garcia to make four or five straight rehab outings without any problems before returning from the disabled list. Garcia has yet to pitch at the major league level this season due to a partial tendon tear in his forearm. He has a 2.57 ERA and eight strikeouts in seven innings over his first five rehab appearances.
