Tommy Hunter hurled 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief of Jair Jurrjens to record his first hold of 2013 in Baltimore's 10-6 loss Saturday.
Hunter finished with a 5.45 ERA in 2012 and a 4.68 ERA in 2011, mostly as a starter. He's a better bullpen fit, where he's posted a 1.54 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 18/4 K/BB rate to go with a 3-1 record and a save over 23 1/3 innings. If Hunter keeps it up, Baltimore is likely to increase his usage to higher-leverage situations.

Tommy Hunter allowed an unearned run and struck out two in 2 1/3 innings of relief Sunday against the Phillies.
The Orioles have never ruled Hunter out of the rotation competition, but it seems like they've viewed him as a reliever all along. That's the way it should be; with the way his velocity jumped following the move to the pen last summer, he's a candidate to break through and turn into a fine setup man.

Orioles avoided arbitration with RHP Tommy Hunter by agreeing to a one-year, $1.82 million contract.
It's a nice little raise in his first year of arbitration, as Hunter made just $493,500 in 2012. The right-hander posted a 5.45 ERA for the O's this past season but pitched much better in relief. That's likely what his role will be in 2013, though he'll compete for a rotation spot in spring training.

Hunter will pitch out of the Baltimore bullpen down the stretch. He posted a 5.95 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 121 innings (20 starts) with the Orioles earlier this season.

It's been very slow progress for Betemit in his recovery from surgery to repair a PCL tear in his right knee. He still has yet to be cleared to resume baseball activities, and the timetable for his return continues to be pushed back. He's virtually irrelevant for fantasy purposes at this point.

Orioles placed OF Nolan Reimold on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 12, with a right hamstring strain.
It's the reason why Reimold was held out of the Orioles' lineup for the fifth straight day Saturday. Chris Dickerson will likely get the majority of starts at designated hitter in his absence. Given his injury history, Reimold could be looking at an extended stay on the DL.

Chen left Sunday's start with a right oblique strain and will rest for a bit before returning to throwing. Jair Jurrjens is the most likely candidate to take his place in the starting rotation.

Miguel Gonzalez (thumb) is expected to be activated to start Tuesday against the Yankees.
Gonzalez was cleared to return after he threw a simulated game Friday with no issues. The 29-year-old has been sidelined since May 4 with a blister on his right thumb. He has a 4.58 ERA and 22/14 K/BB ratio in 35 1/3 innings in six starts this season.

Tsuyoshi Wada (elbow) allowed four runs over four innings Thursday in a rehab start at Triple-A Norfolk.
Wada gave up three hits and issued two walks but he fanned five batters and made it all the way to 78 pitches (45 of which were strikes). He's on his way back from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery and is aiming to join the Orioles' starting rotation at some point in early-to-mind June. The left-hander signed a two-year, $8.15 million contract with the O's in December 2011 but has not yet thrown a pitch in a major league game.
