Michael Pineda (shoulder) told Sweeny Murti of WFAN that he expects to be "100 percent" by spring training next year.
"Yeah, the doctor before the surgery, he told me, 'Hey no worries. You can’t pitch this year, but I promise next year you’ll be ready 100 percent in spring training.' That’s what he told me before the surgery," explained Pineda. The 23-year-old right-hander needed surgery last month to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder and while he's young enough that there's still hope for his career, setbacks are certainly possible. He's no sure thing to be ready for spring training.

Yankees transferred RHP Michael Pineda (shoulder) to the 60-day disabled list.
It's a purely procedural move, as Pineda was ruled out for the season last month. Pineda was scheduled to undergo surgery on his torn labrum earlier this week. He's not a sure thing to be ready for spring training next year.
May 4 - 8:07 PM
Michael Pineda has been diagnosed with a torn labrum in his right (throwing) shoulder and is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery next Tuesday.
The official diagnosis is an "anterior labral tear," which will put an end to Pineda's 2012 season. The 23-year-old right-hander hasn't made a start for the Yankees since being acquired from the Mariners along with Jose Campos for Jesus Montero and Hector Noesi. Pineda registered a stellar 3.74 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 173/55 K/BB ratio across 171 innings as a rookie in 2011.

Michael Pineda will get a second opinion on his ailing right shoulder Wednesday from Dr. David Altchek.
Pineda underwent a dye-contrast MRI on Monday but wants a second set of eyes on his shoulder before any sort of diagnosis is revealed. The 23-year-old right-hander hasn't pitched in a game for the Yankees because of lingering shoulder weakness. He was recently shut down at extended spring training.

Brett Gardner (elbow) has had another setback and will not be allowed to hit off tee until Monday.
The Yankees were hoping that Gardner would be able to pick up a bat Thursday, but manager Joe Girardi said the outfielder still has some stiffness in his right elbow. It doesn't sound like a major setback, but it's the second one Gardner has experienced. His return doesn't appear to be on the horizon.

Yankees transferred RHP Mariano Rivera from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
It clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Andy Pettitte. Rivera is out for the season with a torn meniscus and ACL in his right knee.

David Robertson (oblique) will begin his rehab work Thursday in Florida.
Robertson is eligible to return from the disabled list Sunday, but that won't happen. It's possible he could be ready for the June 1-3 series at Detroit. Yankees manager Joe Girardi won't say whether Rafael Soriano or Robertson will close when the latter returns. "Here's my prayer: Let's just get Robby back," Girardi said. "Let's just get him back to where he's comfortable and get him in a game before we start making official decisions."

Yankees placed LHP Pedro Feliciano on the 60-day disabled list.
He was cleared to make room for the newly-signed David Aardsma. Feliciano underwent rotator cuff surgery last September and is expected to miss most of the 2012 season.

David Aardsma
D.L.
David Aardsma (elbow) has begun throwing sliders.
The rehabbing right-hander had been limited to fastball-only bullpen sessions for the past couple of weeks, but he's beginning to take significant steps forward. Aardsma, who underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery last July, could be a candidate to join the Yankees' bullpen before this year's All-Star break.
May 15
11
Joba Chamberlain
D.L.
Joba Chamberlain (ankle) is no longer wearing a walking boot.
The update was provided via his personal Twitter account. Chamberlain, who dislocated his right ankle in March, now only needs a basketball ankle brace to get around. He's also ramping up his workload throwing and working out, which is significant since he's still less than a year removed from Tommy John surgery. There's a chance he could rejoin the Yankees' bullpen late this season if all goes well.
May 8
12
Brad Meyers
D.L.
Yankees placed RHP Brad Meyers on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 26, with a right labrum strain.
Meyers, who was selected from the Nationals in December's Rule 5 Draft, didn't appear in a game this spring after injuring his should while working out during the offseason. The timetable for his return isn't yet clear, but he'll likely need to spend a couple of weeks in the minors before being a legitimate consideration for a call-up.

Cesar Cabral
D.L.
Yankees transferred LHP Cesar Cabral from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The move clears a spot for the newly-claimed Matt Antonelli on the 40-man roster. Cabral, a Rule 5 pick, was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his left elbow during spring training.
