Bill Bray has joined the bullpen at Double-A Harrisburg.
Bray hung back at extended spring training for the first month of the regular season to get healthy. He signed a minor league contract with the Nats in early December and could climb his way to Washington eventually.

Bill Bray has been reassigned to minor league camp.
Bray was a candidate for a left-handed specialist role, but it doesn't look like there's a spot for him on the Nationals' Opening Day roster. It's fair to wonder if he's still dealing with injuries at this point. Bray doesn't have a spring training opt-out in his minor league deal, so he could be forced to start the season at Triple-A Syracuse.

Bill Ladson of MLB.com writes that Bill Bray has a chance to be the second left-hander in the Nationals' bullpen.
It's increasingly likely that Bray will contend for a roster spot after multiple left-handed relievers have dropped off the board, the latest being J.P. Howell. Bray, who inked a minor league deal with the Nats earlier this offseason, was limited to just 8 2/3 innings in 2012 due to back and groin injuries. He was extremely effective as a left-handed specialist for the Reds in 2011 however, posting a 2.98 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 44/17 K/BB ratio over 48 1/3 innings while holding left-handed hitters to a .180/.265/.292 batting line.

MASN's Dan Kolko writes that Bill Bray is a candidate to replace Mike Gonzalez in the Nationals' bullpen.
Bray was signed to a minor league deal this offseason after being limited to just 14 appearances with the Reds in 2012 due to back and groin injuries. If healthy, he should be able to secure a left-handed specialist role with Gonzalez and Tom Gorzelanny agreeing to deals with the Brewers. According to Kolko, J.P. Howell is the Nationals' top target on the free agent market.

Jayson Werth is going to Chicago to see another specialist regarding his tight right hamstring.
Werth suffered a setback in his rehab Wednesday when he felt some tightness in his hamstring during a game at High-A Potomac. He saw a doctor in New York on Saturday, and he'll see another one in Chicago early next week. He is still hoping to return to the Nationals' lineup by Friday but that seems unlikely to happen.

He'll then throw live batting practice after that before heading out on a rehab assignment, though it's not clear when he'll be ready for that.
