Danny Valencia has been told he'll mostly play first base for the Mariners.
He'll also sprinkle in a few starts at right field, which makes the Mariners less likely to re-sign Franklin Gutierrez. Valencia will form a first-base platoon with Dan Vogelbach, who made his major league debut in September. The left-handed hitting Vogelbach will likely start against right-handers with Valencia handling lefties. Though it won't be a frequent occurrence, Valencia could also slide over to third base if Kyle Seager ever needs a day off. Nov 12 - 6:42 PM
