Athletics returned OF Ben Copeland returned to Triple-A Fresno.
Copeland, a rule five draftee, was designated for assignment last week, but wasn't claimed off the waiver wire. He didn't have any at-bats after being activated from the disabled list with a shoulder injury in early May.

Copeland, a rule 5 draftee, didn't receive an at-bat after being activated from the disabled list on May 5. He spent the first few weeks of the season on the disabled list with a sprained shoulder.

Athletics activated outfielder Ben Copeland from the 15-day disabled list.
Copeland is very likely to prove to be a waste of a roster spot, but what's one more? The Rule 5 pick from the Giants organization hit .261/.334/.417 in 372 at-bats for Double-A Connecticut last season. He had gone 6-for-13 on his rehab assignment after going down this spring with a sprained shoulder.

Athletics placed outfielder Ben Copeland on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 27, with a sprained left shoulder.
Copeland, a Rule 5 pick from the Giants, was never a threat to make the A's, but the team will be able to keep him around because of the injury he sustained last month.

Marson has begun throwing but is not yet performing any other baseball activities due to lingering soreness in his shoulder and neck. "It's definitely frustrating," the catcher told MLB.com. "I know what it is and kind of what I have to do. Hopefully, I can get on the field soon."

Myers threw 33 pitches last week in his first rehab start and will probably try to top 50 pitches on Wednesday. He'll make at least one more start in the minors after that before being considered for activation. The right-hander is attempting to pitch through a UCL tear.

The move was made in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for the arrival of Michael Bourn. Tomlin is recovering from Tommy John surgery and is expected to miss the entire 2013 campaign.

Wood felt some soreness in his surgically-repaired elbow during his first appearance on Saturday, but it was only a minor scare. The 27-year-old right-hander is currently in recovery mode from Tommy John surgery and will likely need a handful of appearances before he's a legitimate consideration for the major league roster.
