Athletics placed RHP Fernando Rodriguez on the 60-day disabled list with an elbow injury.
It's strictly a procedural move, as Oakland needed to clear a spot on their 40-man roster. Rodriguez is expected to miss the entire 2013 season due to Tommy John surgery.

Fernando Rodriguez (elbow) will receive a second opinion from Dr. Thomas Mehlhoff on March 26 in Houston.
Rodriguez is looking at Tommy John surgery, but he wants to first make sure he can't get by with rest and rehab. The 28-year-old right-hander was acquired from the Astros as part of the February Jed Lowrie trade.

It's a procedural move to open up a 40-man roster spot. Sizemore underwent his second major knee surgery in two years last week and will not play this season.

If it goes well, he'll be cleared to begin a rehab assignment. Reddick discussed last week the possibility of surgery on his right wrist, but he's been able to take dry swings with no issues. If he doesn't suffer any setbacks, it seems possible that he could be activated sometime next week.

Brett Anderson was diagnosed with a navicular stress fracture of his right foot and will be shut down for four weeks.
Rough news for Anderson, who just can't seem to stay healthy. The 25-year-old southpaw is set to be reevaluated after four weeks, so his actual return to the Athletics likely won't be until around the early part of July. Dan Straily is filling his spot in the rotation for now, but the A's could turn to Sonny Gray if he continues to struggle.
