James Paxton limited the Blue Jays to one run in seven innings as part of a 2-1 win on Friday.
That’s more like it. Paxton has scuffled a bit of late, but he was flat-out brilliant in this one, allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out nine. He had struck out just five batters over his last three starts combined. The lone run scored on a solo homer by Michael Saunders in the second inning. Paxton will likely continue to have ups and downs, but a night like this showed what he's capable of doing. He'll bring a 4.18 ERA into a tough matchup against the Cubs next week. Jul 22 - 10:38 PM
