James Paxton lasted just four innings Saturday, allowing five runs on six hits in a no-decision against the Rangers.
Paxton walked three and struck out six, using 96 pitches to get through his four innings. It was the second time in five starts that he's gone fewer than five innings, and one other time he went just five. His 5.61 ERA and 1.44 WHIP through five starts speak to his struggles to be both efficient and effective thus far, but when he's on, like he was in his previous two starts in which he struck out 17 while allowing three runs combined, he's fantastic. It's the risk-reward fantasy owners must live with in Paxton. They'll hope the good one shows up Friday when the southpaw takes on the Indians. Apr 22 - 12:14 AM
