Brad Boxberger escaped a ninth-inning jam to earn his 15th save as the Rays defeated the Orioles 9-5 on Sunday.
Xavier Cedeno started the ninth inning with a 9-4 lead, but gave up a leadoff home run to Manny Machado, then allowed a one-out single to Delmon Young and a walk to Chris Davis before giving way to Boxberger. Boxberger was able to get Travis Snider to ground out and J.J. Hardy to fly out to end the ballgame. The right-hander is perfect in 15 save chances with a 2.70 ERA and a 28/8 K/BB ratio in 20 innings. Jake McGee has continued to pitch in lower-leverage situations, but he should eventually cut into the number of save opportunities Boxberger sees. May 31 - 5:19 PM
