Josh Phegley is batting .333/.400/.651 with 10 home runs and 28 RBI through 34 games at Triple-A Charlotte.
Phegley is having a breakout year offensively and currently leads the International League with a .651 slugging-percentage. The White Sox would ideally wait until mid-June to promote Phegley to avoid Super Two status, but they might not be able to resist calling him up for much longer with Tyler Flowers and Hector Gimenez struggling.

White Sox purchased the contract of C Josh Phegley from Triple-A Charlotte.
The move protects him from the Rule 5 Draft. Phegley, a supplemental first-round pick in 2009, batted .266/.306/.373 with six home runs and a .680 OPS in 102 games at the Triple-A level this year while throwing out 46 percent of attempted basestealers.

After missing most of last season with Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, Josh Phegley feels great entering spring training.
The young catcher is receiving blood treatments for his platelet count, and if all continues to go well, these treatments will become monthly instead of weekly. He is hoping to pick up where he left off before falling ill last year.

A former Amateur Draft first round pick, Phegley needs more seasoning in the minors before he can merit serious consideration even for keeper leagues. He should gain some valuable experience in the coming weeks playing alongside the organization's best talent.

Gordon Beckham isn't playing Friday with Triple-A Charlotte due to soreness in his surgically-repaired left hand.
Beckham had surgery in mid-April to remove the hamate bone from his hand, so the White Sox don't want to take any chances. He's expected to be held out of action until next Wednesday at the earliest.

Chris Sale has been scratched from Wednesday's scheduled start against the Red Sox due to mild tendinitis in his left posterior shoulder.
It's obviously a tough break for Sale's fantasy owners, but the good news is that the move is viewed as precautionary and he's expected to be ready to start next Tuesday. Hector Santiago will get the ball Wednesday in Sale's place. He'll be pitching on three days' rest.

Gavin Floyd underwent successful surgery Wednesday to repair the ulnar collateral ligament and flexor muscle in his right elbow.
The surgeon told the White Sox that the operation "could not have gone better." However, since he needed two major areas operated on, the recovery is expected to be 14-19 months rather than the standard 12 months for Tommy John surgery. With that timetable, Floyd probably shouldn't be counted on for a whole lot in 2014. He'll be a free agent over the winter.

White Sox transferred LHP Leyson Septimo from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
Septimo has been out all season with a left shoulder strain. He's begun a rehab assignment but now will not be eligible to return until May 22.
