Michael Dunn nailed down his second career save in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.
Marlins manager Mike Redmond decided to pull closer Steve Cisherk and go to Dunn with two on and lefty Miguel Montero coming up. Dunn walked Montero but then got A.J. Pollock to ground out after running the count full. With Cishek's struggles against left-handers this year, it's possible Dunn could see the occasional save opportunity.

Michael Dunn nailed down his first save of the season in Monday's win over the Nationals.
He made manager Ozzie Guillen sweat first, allowing a hit and a walk before getting Andy LaRoche looking to cinch the two-run win. It's confirmation that the Marlins will go with a closer-by-committee, as Steve Cishek netted the first save since Heath Bell's demotion, and Randy Choate and Edward Mujica could get into the mix, as well. Bell pitched the eighth inning Monday.

Marlins recalled LHP Mike Dunn from Triple-A New Orleans.
Dunn has posted a hideous 9.58 ERA in 10 1/3 innings of major-league relief this season. The Marlins will hope for better this time around but seem doubtful to use the southpaw in many high-leverage situations early on.

Marlins optioned LHP Mike Dunn to Triple-A New Orleans.
Dunn got the boot after being tagged for four runs on three hits and two walks over one inning of work Thursday against the Giants. The 27-year-old southpaw now owns an ugly 9.58 ERA in 10 1/3 innings this season.

Logan Morrison (knee) is slated to begin a rehab assignment with High-A Jupiter on Monday.
Morrison has been playing in extended spring training games lately and hasn't had any setbacks with his surgically-repaired knee. With his 20-day rehab clock started on Monday, he'll be activated no later than early June as long as he doesn't have a setback.

Marlins manager Mike Redmond said Casey Kotchman (hamstring) could begin a rehab assignment "in the next few days."
Kotchman is finally feeling improvement with his strained left hamstring. He was moved to the 60-day DL last week, though, so he won't be eligible to return until June.

Mahoney has been out since late April with a right hamstring strain. With Logan Morrison (knee) and Casey Kotchman (hamstring) also due back soon, Mahoney might be sent to Triple-A once healthy.

There's no timetable for when he'll resume baseball activities, let alone when he'll return from the DL. Derek Dietrich will continue to serve as the primary second baseman for the Marlins.

Chris Valaika underwent successful surgery on Friday, having two pins inserted into his wrist.
Valaika is expected to require 4-6 weeks of healing time before he's able to return to the Marlins. He had been virtually ineffective in his 22 games before the injury, hitting .219/.261/.344 with one homer and nine RBI.

That's what Marlins skipper Mike Redmond told reporters on Saturday afternoon. Stanton has been on the disabled list since April 30 with a severe right hamstring strain and is being limited currently to pool workouts. There is no timetable for his return to Miami.

It's not clear how long the Rule 5 pick will be out. Silverio missed the entire 2012 season after injuring his neck and back in an auto accident.

Marlins manager Mike Redmond said Thursday that Nathan Eovaldi (shoulder) has been progressing with his long-toss program.
It's not clear when Eovaldi will be ready to throw from a mound, but he's moving in the right direction. The right-hander looks to be a little behind Henderson Alvarez, who should be ready to rejoin the Marlins' rotation in mid-May.
