Royals optioned LHP Noel Arguelles from Double-A Northwest Arkansas.
The 23-year-old Cuban defector has failed to live up to expectations to this point in his Royals career. He posted a 6.41 ERA over 25 starts at the Double-A level in 2012, and clearly needs much more seasoning before he's even a consideration for the big league roster.

The Royals have optioned pitching prospect Noel Arguelles from Single-A Wilmington to the Arizona Rookie League after the left reached his innings limit for the season.
The Royals signed the Cuban defector to a five-year, $7 million contract last January before he missed all of last year while recovering from shoulder surgery. The demoted effectively ends his season, as he posted a 3.20 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 64/24 K/BB ratio over 104 innings for Wilmington in his first taste of pro ball. "It was a great year for him," said Scott Sharp, the club’s director of minor-league operations. "But he’s been throwing a long time. We think he’s had enough innings."

Arguelles is currently working his way back from shoulder surgery and has yet to throw his first professional pitch. The Cuban left-hander signed a five-year, $7 million contract with the Royals last January.

Jarrod Dyson has been diagnosed with a mild high ankle sprain and is expected to be sidelined for 2-to-4 weeks.
The 28-year-old speedster had been off to a decent start this season, hitting .268/.286/.561 with a homer, eight RBI and six stolen bases through his first 41 at-bats. While the timetable for recovery is short, any injury to the ankle is something to very closely monitor for a player such as Dyson who derives all of his fantasy value from his speed. David Lough could be worth a look in very deep leagues while Dyson is out.
