The Nationals plan to move Anthony Rendon back to third base next season.
Yunel Escobar was supposed to play second base this year but had to fill in at third when Rendon went down with a knee injury. Rather than move him back mid-season, the Nats opted to keep Escobar at third and install Rendon in a platoon with Danny Espinosa at second base. Shortstop Ian Desmond is likely to leave in free agency, which could open up a spot for top prospect Trea Turner in the Nats' middle infield.
