John Lamb allowed four runs -- three earned -- on six hits over six innings in a loss to the Mariners on Saturday.
It was a gutsy performance from the left-hander, who didn't have his best stuff but managed to turn in a quality start anyway. The M's did all their damage on homers, with Leonys Martin taking Lamb deep in the second inning before Franklin Gutierrez hit a three-run bomb in the fourth. Lamb walked three while striking out three on the afternoon. The strikeout potential he flashed last season hasn't showed itself yet this year, as he has just an 11/9 K/BB ratio over four starts to go with a 5.40 ERA and 1.65 WHIP. He may still be working his way into form after December back surgery sidelined him through April, but Lamb will need to show progress Friday at the Brewers to remain on the NL-only radar.
