He'll take a seat with left-hander Scott Diamond on the hill for Minnesota. Jonny Gomes will start in left field and bat sixth. Meanwhile, Shane Victorino will hit second.

Daniel Nava went 2-for-5 with a home run Wednesday and the Red Sox beat the Blue Jays.
Nava's home run was his fifth of the year, and the outfielder is now hitting .296/.385/.531 on the season. He's been a pleasant surprise in the early going, racking up 18 RBI and 17 runs scored. Nava is likely playing above his head, but his spot in the lineup isn't in jeopardy and he's getting results. He's worth owning in deep mixed leagues until his bat cools.

Daniel Nava launched a go-ahead three-run homer in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Royals.
On a special day in Boston, Nava continues to add to his legend. The Red Sox were down by one run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth, but Nava turned on a pitch from Kelvin Herrera and sent it into the bullpen beyond the eight field fence. The 30-year-old is now hitting .342/.460/.684 with four home runs, 14 RBI and a 1.144 OPS in 12 games.

Daniel Nava knocked in two runs Thursday in a win over the Indians.
Nava finished the day 1-for-2 with a walk. He had an RBI single in the top of the second inning and a sacrifice fly to cap off a three-run seventh. Jackie Bradley Jr. is expected to be demoted Friday when David Ortiz (heels) is activated from the disabled list, so Nava should continue to get semi-regular playing time. The 30-year-old should be owned in AL-only leagues and may even have some value in deeper mixed leagues which allow daily lineup changes.

Red Sox placed 3B Will Middlebrooks on the 15-day disabled list with lower back spasms.
Middlebrooks suffered the injury Wednesday and aggravated it Thursday. The Red Sox initially said he was day-to-day, but evidently they've decided the best course of action was to sit him down for a couple weeks. Jose Iglesias has been promoted to fill his spot on the roster and will share time with Pedro Ciriaco at the hot corner.

Red Sox placed OF Shane Victorino on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 21, with a left hamstring strain.
Victorino ran sprints prior to Thursday's game, but evidently he still hasn't made enough progress. Given that he's also had a back issue lately, it's probably best to let him rest for a couple weeks. Daniel Nava will handle right field while Victorino is out.

Franklin Morales (back, pectoral) is expected to make at least two more rehab starts before being activated from the disabled list.
Morales threw three innings in his last outing and will stretch it out to four innings Saturday. The lefty would have been activated by now had the Red Sox wanted him as a reliever, but they're stretching him out as a starter in case he's needed in that role. "Well, he'll likely get to four innings [on Saturday], and if we don't change course with his role, we'd like to get him to a minimum of five before we'd look to do something back here," manager John Farrell said.

Joel Hanrahan was upbeat Friday after he required Tommy John surgery in addition to flexor tendon surgery on Thursday.
Hanrahan will be in a cast for ten days, but will start the rehab process shortly thereafter. Either way, he's looking at a 12-to-14 month timetable for his return. Hanrahan, who is a free agent after the season, is a long way away from having any tangible fantasy value.
