Tanner Roark picked up his first career save after pitching a scoreless ninth inning in Monday's comeback win against the Marlins.
Regular closer Drew Storen had pitched on back-to-back days and manager Matt Williams didn't want to make it three in a row, so Roark took the mound with a two-run lead after the Nationals stormed for four runs in the bottom of the eighth. Roark worked around a one-out single from Dee Gordon to close out the ballgame. The right-hander has a 3.21 ERA and a 3/3 K/BB ratio in 14 innings this season, pitching mostly as a middle reliever. Save opportunities should continue to be a rarity for Roark. May 4 - 9:55 PM
