Blake Swihart is in the Red Sox lineup as the designated hitter for Saturday's showdown against the Braves.
Red Sox' manager Alex Cora said that Swihart would get more run after Hanley Ramirez was DFA'd on Friday, and it looks like he's true to his word. Swihart is batting eighth against Braves' southpaw Sean Newcomb on Saturday afternoon. With his catcher eligibility, he could be an interesting option in AL-only leagues and deeper two-catcher mixed leagues if he does indeed receive regular playing time. Daily Slant: Swihart has had a pretty rough start to the 2018 season, accumulating just 4 hits in 33 plate appearances in limited action thus far. That said, it appears the Red Sox believe he is an important piece for the future of the franchise - enough that it was worth designating Hanley Ramirez for assignment to keep him on the roster. Look for Swihart to build momentum as he gets in a rhythm of playing more routinely. May 26 - 9:51 AM
