Jason Repko has elected to become a free agent.
Repko went 1-for-11 this past season with the Red Sox. He'll likely have to settle for a minor league deal.

Red Sox activated OF Jason Repko from the 15-day disabled list, optioned him to Triple-A Pawtucket.
He had been sidelined for the last two months with a separated shoulder. Repko will represent depth at Triple-A.

Jason Repko (shoulder) joined Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday to continue his rehab assignment.
Repko played three rehab games at Single-A Greenville without incident. The 31-year-old outfielder should be activated from the disabled list at some point this week.

Jason Repko (shoulder) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment Monday at Single-A Salem.
Repko has been on the disabled list since April 22 with a separated shoulder. He's likely to spend at least two weeks getting his timing right in the minor leagues.

Red Sox placed 3B Will Middlebrooks on the 15-day disabled list with lower back spasms.
Middlebrooks suffered the injury Wednesday and aggravated it Thursday. The Red Sox initially said he was day-to-day, but evidently they've decided the best course of action was to sit him down for a couple weeks. Jose Iglesias has been promoted to fill his spot on the roster and will share time with Pedro Ciriaco at the hot corner.

Red Sox placed OF Shane Victorino on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 21, with a left hamstring strain.
Victorino ran sprints prior to Thursday's game, but evidently he still hasn't made enough progress. Given that he's also had a back issue lately, it's probably best to let him rest for a couple weeks. Daniel Nava will handle right field while Victorino is out.

The Red Sox have yet determine if Franklin Morales (back, pectoral) will be activated this weekend or receive one more rehab start in the minors.
Morales, on the disabled list since the beginning of the season, declared himself fully healthy after throwing five innings Thursday in his latest rehab game with Double-A Portland. The Red Sox are expected to use him as a reliever upon his return.

Joel Hanrahan was upbeat Friday after he required Tommy John surgery in addition to flexor tendon surgery on Thursday.
Hanrahan will be in a cast for ten days, but will start the rehab process shortly thereafter. Either way, he's looking at a 12-to-14 month timetable for his return. Hanrahan, who is a free agent after the season, is a long way away from having any tangible fantasy value.
