Hector Santiago held the Marlins to just three hits and one run through 5 2/3 innings Wednesday in a rare victory.
Santiago, never an efficient pitcher, was yanked at 93 pitches in the sixth inning, and his bullpen pitched beautifully (3 1/3 shutout frames) to preserve his lead. The left-hander came into this game with a 1.65 ERA in six no-decisions since the All-Star break -- that's right, he didn't factor into any of those decisions. The left-hander, who was banished to the bullpen and then to Triple-A earlier this season, has his ERA down to 3.28. Without Garret Richards, Los Angeles needs him to keep it up. Santiago toes the rubber in Houston on Tuesday. Aug 28 - 1:36 AM
