Didi Gregorius went 2-for-5 with a double and his first triple of the season in Sunday's extra-innings loss to the Phillies.
Gregorius was bumped to the No. 2 spot in the lineup when he returned from the DL, and he's continued to outperform his offensive expectations to this point. He still needs to prove that he can make adjustments as the season moves along, but there aren't many shortstops that are playing better than him right now. Gregorius is batting .362/.403/.655 through his first 15 games.

Didi Gregorius went 2-for-3 with a home run Sunday in his return to the lineup.
Gregorius was activated from the DL on Saturday, but didn't start. He homered off Edinson Volquez in his first at-bat and accounted for the Diamondbacks' lone run. Paul Goldschmidt was the only other D-Backs player to get a hit Sunday. Gregorius is batting .433/.469/.867 with a 1.335 OPS in eight games this season.

Diamondbacks activated SS Didi Gregorius from the 7-day disabled list.
Gregorius hasn't played since being hit in the helmet by a pitch last Friday, but was cleared to resume baseball activities earlier this week. The 23-year-old was batting .407 (11-for-27) with two home runs and four doubles in seven games prior to landing on the DL. Gregorius should remain the Diamondbacks' everyday shortstop even when Aaron Hill (hand) returns. Cliff Pennington will slide into a backup role.

Aaron Hill was not cleared to resume activities Monday after a doctor determined that his left hand had not healed sufficiently.
"He's going to be waiting and try to get some more growth on that bone," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said. Hill to this point has been limited to running and standing in on bullpen sessions to track pitches. It's unlikely that he'll be ready to return before June now.

He'll play in 1-2 extended spring games before beginning a rehab assignment if all goes well. Barring another setback, Bloomquist should be ready for activation before the end of the month.

Jason Kubel has been out of the starting lineup the past two games after aggravating his left quadriceps injury.
The injury forced him onto the disabled list earlier this season. "Just trying to get over that," Kubel said. "We decided to give it a few days rest." Kubel was batting .333/.375/.600 with two homers and six RBI before going down with the injury on April 9 and he's struggled mightily since, batting .167 since his activation. Arizona begins a three-game series Friday against Florida and Kubel's former Twins teammate Kevin Slowey. Cody Ross and A.J. Pollock will pick up additional at-bats if Kubel can't play.

The Diamondbacks have shifted Adam Eaton's (elbow) rehab assignment from Triple-A Reno to High-A Visalia.
Eaton is currently being limited to DH duties and the pitchers at Triple-A Reno will hit for the next week, so he had to find a new team to rehab with. Eaton is still a week or so away from manning center field. He's expected to rejoin the D'Backs near the end of May.

Daniel Hudson (elbow) threw 55 pitches over two innings in a live batting practice session on Monday.
"He looked good," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said. "He was overthrowing in the first inning but he came back in the second and had much better location. Overall it was good." Hudson will now begin throwing on a regular five-day cycle, mixing in a bullpen session in between each outing as he would do during the regular season. The D'Backs are hoping to get him back just before the All-Star break.

J.J. Putz will not require major elbow surgery.
Putz has been diagnosed with a sprained ligament, a strained flexor pronator and nerve irritation in his right elbow -- all of which can be addressed through rehab. He will try to return before the end of the 2013 season. Heath Bell has taken over Arizona's ninth-inning gig.
