Brian Dozier went 0-for-4 as the Twins' leadoff man on Monday, dropping his average to .205.
Dozier started off well after replacing Aaron Hicks in the leadoff spot, but now he's hitting .154 with two walks in 52 at-bats this month. The Twins should consider sending him down, but none of their minor league options are better bets.

Brian Dozier went 2-for-6 and hit his first homer of the year Monday against the Red Sox.
The homer off Joel Hanrahan tied the game in the top of the ninth. Dozier struggled as a No. 8 hitter for the Twins, but he's hit .304 in 13 games since moving into the leadoff spot. He still rates as a weak link in the Twins' lineup, but there's no one better around to replace him right now.

Brian Dozier had a nice night at the plate in Friday's extra-inning loss to the Indians, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base.
The 25-year-old second baseman has supplanted Aaron Hicks atop the Twins lineup in recent weeks, and is now hitting .253/.299/.316 on the season with no homers, eight RBI and a pair of stolen bases. He offers a modest combination of power and speed, and while hitting in a premium part of the lineup should have value as a middle infielder in AL-only and deeper mixed leagues.

Brian Dozier went 3-for-4 with a triple and a steal against the Marlins on Tuesday.
Dozier's value took a hit when the Twins decided to go with Joe Mauer as a No. 2 hitter; that dropped Dozier all of the way to eighth. However, Dozier has now made three starts as a leadoff man over the struggling Aaron Hicks and gone 7-for-14 with three runs scored. He'll be a solid play in AL-only leagues for however long he hits there.

Darin Mastroianni will undergo surgery on Wednesday to repair a bone chip on his left ankle, and will be sidelined for at least six weeks.
It was a very discouraging sign when Mastroianni, who was already progressing slowly in his recovery, was uncomfortable testing his ankle during light sprints on Wednesday. He shouldn't be expected to return to the Twins until after the All-Star break and can safely be dropped in deeper mixed formats.

An MRI taken Wednesday on Tim Wood's right shoulder showed no signs of major structural damage.
Wood is headed to Minnesota for a second look. The 30-year-old has posted an ugly 8.68 ERA in 9 1/3 innings this season between High-A Fort Myers and Triple-A Rochester. He is currently on the MLB disabled list.
